About this property

Wilson Island Retreat

Wilson Island Retreat is a beautiful waterfront home located on an island in the middle of Wilson Lake (Phillips, WI), part of the Phillips Chain of Lakes (four lakes) connected to the other lakes. This property above all offers privacy, space peace and quiet in a serene setting with fabulous sunsets.

This property has approximately 545' feet of lakefront shoreline on a 1.593-acre parcel surrounded by towering pine trees. There are two FLOE piers/docks, they are extra wide for stability, comfort and security. The main pier which we like to call the swimming pier is an aluminum "L" shaped pier that is great for swimming, boating and/or fishing. The pier's/docks are available from early May to the first week of October usually. The property faces west so you should get some pretty nice sunsets too!

In the winter you will find ice fishing, snowmobiling, snow shoeing among many other winter sport activities to enjoy from our house. The driveway parking area is big enough for staging your snowmobiles, boats, campers and/or ATV's...

Wilson Island Retreat is a true Northwoods gem that will have you coming back every year and in every season!

Wilson Island Retreat is managed by WLWIV, LLC.

Great Stay
My wife and I had a great long weekend. The home was very clean and comfortable. Anything you needed for your stay was provided. Bill was excellent to work with and communicated well. He did everything he could to make our stay what we hoped for. The beauty and privacy is wonderful. A great yard, and the firewood that is provided for the fireplace and fire pit is excellent. We look forward to a return visit when the opportunity arises.

Exactly what we wanted
Our stay at this property was wonderful. The layout is ideal- common areas in the center of the home, with bedrooms at the corners of the home so everyone felt space and privacy when needed. To say the home is well stocked/equipped is an understatement. Lake/boating towels, firewood, bug spray, and more— things we have come to expect to provide ourselves at most properties— were generously provided here. We felt at home the minute we dropped our luggage. Bill was a great communicator throughout the booking process and entire stay.

Beautiful home with a view
We loved our stay at Wilson Island Retreat. This home has many extras that we haven't found at other rentals. The most important was the peaceful location. Thanks to our wonderful hosts who provided for our needs and allowed our family to spend quality time together.

Born and raised in the charming suburb of Northfield/Winnetka Illinois, I (Bill) spent my summer's growing up on Delavan Lake at our family lake house (in Southern Wisconsin) sailing competitively as my primary summertime activity. I love being on or near the water during the summer. Upon graduating from college (Boston area) I moved to Aspen Colorado to accept a property management opportunity managing short term rental condominiums. I never would have imagined I would find myself living in the Aspen area for 30 years, but that is the lure of all the things the Aspen/Roaring Fork Valley have to offer and 30 years passed as it seemed very quickly. In 2014 I reached a turning point in my life, and decided it was time to leave Aspen for a new adventure before I got any older. So I chose to return to my Midwestern roots. Shortly after my arrival I met and fell in love with a sweet hospice nurse (widow). She has three beautiful and wonderful daughters that thankfully have taken me in along with their mom. So in a very short period of time I had a new and wonderful family. Tracie and I were married in 2019 and currently enjoy living and working in Northern Wisconsin with our dog, Allie, and look forward to visits from each of our daughters. When we are not working we are blessed to be able to enjoy all of the spectacular things that come with living "up north," one of which is our beautiful lake house.

Why they chose this property

While dating my now wife when we were living in the Milwaukee area I decided to buy a lake house as a getaway, a place where we could spend time with our family, something like my childhood lake house on Lake Delavan. My waterfront home search began in May 2016, I toured many different properties over a six month period. Then one day about five months in I toured this property and thought it was a little more than what I was looking for but I decided to take the leap. It was in pretty rough shape, but I saw the potential. Fast forward four plus years later and after a ton of work our dream lake house is in our mind now perfect. My goal was to keep the charm to the point of going on eBay to buy the alarm clocks in the guest bedrooms ala 1980... This property truly has a magical feel, it's a heavenly place that we have grown to love and are happy to share it with those who come across our VRBO listing. I think the reviews pretty much say it all.

What makes this property unique

The things that stand out to me now are the simple things like laying on the hammock with my wife for hours looking out over the water and watching the sunset. Moments we share at the lake are when we find ourselves wanting time to standstill... We hope our guests will be able to find this same sense of peace, quiet and tranquility while staying with us at our beautiful Wilson Island Retreat. The flat shoreline allows for easy water access to kayaking, fishing, water skiing, and swimming. In the winter snowmobiling and ice fishing are right out the door or perhaps you might prefer to just cuddle up inside in front of a wood burning fire knowing you're in the middle of nowhere looking out over a beautiful lake forgetting about everything going on in the World, now that's the life!
