Perfect place for the right people - location, beauty
This is a lovely unit with beautiful, cheery artwork from the late owner. Very tasteful. The landscaping is very lovely, the pool is spectacular and the bed is comfortable. The location is ideal if you can't be on the beach. It is only a short distance to "town": with restaurants and shopping and a short distance to the beach. Bus stops are nearby. The street is very quiet, safe and friendly for exercise walking. Martha, the on-site property manager is very attentive, available, accomodating and fun. We enjoyed getting to know her. We stayed here more than a month for my hip replacement surgery and recovery. It was ideal for that other than the bathroom is not real close to the bedroom. We hope to stay here next year when I have the other hip done.
Here are the caveats. It wasn't clear to us and others I talked to exactly how this property is laid out and how shared the yard is. This is a lovely Hawaiian house carved into 4 units. This means the walls are only house standards for sound and the very lovely backyard with pool is only the size of a normal backyard shared by 4 parties. So you may be swimming in the pool while someone else is having a birthday party 25 feet away. Someone may be lounging in the shade near the hot tub 20 feet from your lanai while you are on a zoom meeting. We could also hear everything said at the table in the covered lanai of the main unit from our bathroom which suggests they could also hear our bathroom. The only windows to our bathroom opened onto their large, lovely covered lanai. Initially I did not react well to this situation but I am a highly social person and enjoyed meeting the others in the other units. They gave me flowers on surgery day! When 4 young contractors moved into the main unit my husband did need to have a talk with them about their loud movies and bom-bom music but they were respectful and immediately quieted down. The front unit and side unit have their own outside spaces and are not as open to the shared space as this one is. but they are not as big. I am glad we chose this one. Just be aware that this is the way it is and does it work with your personality or not? For me, it worked and we hope to go back.
The other caveat is that the owner has very recently passed away which creates some uncertainty as to how the property will be managed ini the future.
The large slab koa wood "table" is lovely but not useable and should be replaced with a table for two.
