Pretty, spacious home; closer than you think!
People from DC will understand where this home is, but a visitor might feel remote from the rest of the city. You're just a half mile walk from the Cleveland Park metro stop, and accessing the shortcut is down about 100+ wooded stairway to the Main Street below. And back home is 100+ stairs up! There is no "neighborhood" per se, rather a single short road w a few other quiet houses separated from any other house-homes. Teens and single women didn't feel safe walking after dark, not because of actual threat, but because: "Who's going to see and hear us if anything happens?" Personally, I liked it as an rental for a former Washingtonian returning w family for a week long visit. But a first time tourist might find it peculiarly situated. Likely you'll rely on taxis, unless you're a dedicated walker (I am, but my companions were not). Home is mostly accurately depicted. Our family of four had more than enough space. Very spacious, in fact. Some furniture and rooms (kitchen, bath) were dated and in need of some minor repair, most functioned well, were charming and had a vintage feel (I'm sure vacation homes take a beating with rapid guest turnover). Our biggest challenge was using the key! Family members felt insecure about being able to unlock the door at all, and so we didn't split to go our separate ways. Joggers will delight!!! Access to Rock Creek Pk will blow yr mind!!!
