Awesome Cabin, very accommodating hosts......just a perfect location and beautiful views!!! Anxious to get back
Quiet, tranquil, cabin in the tall pines on Meder Lake.
We had a wonderful vacation! It was so peaceful! I even recorded the "quiet" one night, just so I could remember. Starting our mornings and finishing our evenings sitting in the open 3 season room overlooking the lake in the tall pines, drinking our coffee in the morning and watching the sun set in the evening. We even loved it when it rained because it was so calming, and you still feel like you are sitting outside. We loved listening to the haunting mystical sounds of the loons, taking our daily walks with Nellie, our 13 y/o Golden Retriever and Malibu, Ron's 18 y/o Boarder Collie! The two old gals were so sweet together and Malibu, became our best furry friend immediately, an amazing dog! We enjoyed hanging out at Dusty's for pizza and Copper Ridge for fish fry, meeting the locals, hiking to see the water falls in Copper Falls State park, and traveling to Ashland,WI to the Deep Water's Grille for fresh Lake Superior White Fish. Potatoe Falls is a must, beautiful secluded hike to a wonderful water fall. Kayaking on Meder Lake was most relaxing, thanks to Ron and the complimentary kayaks, we didn't need to haul ours. Our hosts were amazing, making sure we had everything we needed. Getting to know Ron was awesome, loved checking in with him and having our laughs! Leonna may even be related! I think I finally learned what true relaxing is! I know Ron would get a kick out of that! This was where we were meant to be! Thank you so much Ron and Leonna!! See ya later!!
Little Piece of Heaven on Meder Lake in Ashland County
Well, the owners are super nice and friendly people, the lake is pristine, the cabin is cozy and the dog is a joy. What more can you ask for when you go on vacation? We shall return!
Best vacation ever-Aug 2019
The property was just what I hoped for. Quiet and peaceful. Beautiful and welcoming. Owner Ron and Leonna are the best!! We made fast friends and because we are all Harley people we had great rides together. Ron showed us the best rodes and local bars. We had a great time and will for sure be back. The cabin was comfortable and had everything we needed for a relaxing week. Thank you Ron, Leonna and Malibu for being great hosts and more importantly becoming forever friends. Your the best!! As Ron says, we don't say Good bye. See you soon!! Later Alligator!!
Tall Pines, Peaceful Lake Hideaway!
The best vacation we've ever had! Ron and Leonna are the best, and Lake Meder is amazing! My 5 kids (12-18) our dog and myself stayed very comfortably. We enjoyed kayaking, fishing, swimming, playing games, star gazing, and campfires. The lake is sandy and shallow, very easy to get in and out of and swim in. We enjoyed watching bald eagles soaring over the lake, hummingbirds chattering in the trees, kingfishers fishing off the pier and loons serenading us. This is a bird watchers paradise. Lake Superior is about 40 minutes away with lots of public beaches in Ashland. We enjoyed going to Bayfield and taking a boat tour of the Apostle Islands, as well as visiting the local free maritime museum, the Bayfield fish hatchery with mini Aquarium of local fish, and local restaurants along with going to the Apostle Island National Lake Shore headquarters, where we all earned our Jr. Ranger Badges! Cooper Falls (10 minutes away) is a must! Beautiful trails that meander along the river and the waterfalls. At Big Top Chautauqua we experienced the beautiful music of The Blue Canvas Orchestra. We also enjoyed going to their Free Family and Native American Community Connection Concert.
Time truly slows down on the the lake, and we were able to relax and take in the peaceful serenity of nature and bond as a family. I would walk down to the pier in the morning, spending an hour or two watching the fog lift off the lake with the sunrise. My kids loved kayaking and fishing off the peir with Malibu. We brought a telescope and got to to see Jupiter and 4 of it's moons. Thank you so much Ron and Leonna for your hospitality. There wasn't a dry eye on the ride home, my kids had so much fun! Can't wait for next year! See you Summer 2020.
