My wife and I and our four "adult" children just returned from a week at Casa Rosa on beautiful Tankah Bay immediately north of Tulum. This property was precisely right for our group and "as advertised" in every respect.
The house is generously sized with 4 ample bedrooms - two "master" suites (one down; one up) and two nicely appointed secondary bedrooms on the first floor. The kitchen is huge and well-equipped. The living area is comfortable. The house offers all the comforts of home. The air conditioning works very well - important for a trip like ours in August. The oceanfront terraces and decks are wonderful for relaxing during the day or in the evening. The pool is great for a quick dip to cool off or simply relax. The setting in a small grove of coconut palms with hammocks strung between a couple is idyllic in every way.
The staff is wonderful. Bernardino is the groundskeeper and general all-around go-to-guy for whatever you need - including a refreshing coconut drink right out of the nut he's pulled off one of the trees on the beach. Maria does a great job keeping things inside and out spotless and fresh towels in the bathrooms (there are 3 - with plenty of hot water). We didn't get a chance to sample one of Maria's meals (we understand they're wonderful) because we found too many great places in Tulum to eat, but we arrived to find a big batch of freshly made guacamole and Pico de Gallo in the frig along with a bag of chips - all very welcome since we didn't arrive to the house until 8:00 PM on our day or arrival (we asked her to repeat the guacamole, which she did to perfection). From sundown to sunrise, Noel patrols the grounds, keeping an eye out for security and for any nesting or hatching sea turtles (and making really cute crafts from palm fronds).
Being there in August, we had the possibility of seeing turtles nest or hatch. The hatching usually occurs during the dead of night. When we arrived, we found the beach in front of the house and north and south literally covered with turtle nesting spots (each carefully marked and dated). Amazingly, two of those nests right in front of Casa Rosa hatched in the early evening while it was still light and we witnessed the most amazing spectacle of literally hundred of little turtles (200 +/- per next) coming up out of the sand and heading straight to the water. We've never seen anything like it before and will never forget it.
In short, I can't recommend Casa Rosa more highly.
As a travel writer and photographer for more than a decade I have travelled extensively throughout Mexico and had the great fortune to experience amazing beaches on four of its five coasts. My wife and I have also rented homes throughout the country and, without question, Casa Rosa is the best we have found. We rented the house to celebrate my father’s 80th birthday and my wife’s 40th birthday and it is difficult to express what a true pleasure it was to have Casa Rosa as our home for those ten days. The house very comfortably accommodated five adults and two small children and offered quiet and privacy, but with ready access to all Tulum has to offer. Minutes from the ruins and the many excellent restaurants in town, Casa Rosa was the perfect getaway. The house itself is clean and everything is perfectly maintained. Whether lounging in one of the hammocks in the cool breeze coming off the Caribbean Sea, watching sea turtles lay their eggs on our beach, enjoying a delicious meals prepared by the warm and accommodating caretakers, Bernadino and Maria, our stay at Casa Rosa inspired a rare sense of contentment and tranquility. I can’t recommend Casa Rosa highly enough. Our only complaint is that it will now be hard to stay anywhere else—some of our friends have already booked the house and we’re planning to do the same next year!
The Perfect Casa
I have stayed in many Villas in the Mayan Riviera, and Casa Rosa ranks pretty high on the list of best places rented. The price is quite reasonable, the architecture is perfect, the place is super spacious (the roof deck alone is an amazing place to hang out) and the palm trees offer just the right amount of shade to sit in a chair and take in the ocean breeze while reading a book. I went with 3 other mothers and our kids and we had one of the most relaxing vacations ever. This was made possible by the cooks and cleaners so we were not sweeping sand and making mac and cheese the whole time. Cannot wait to return!
Casa Rosa is on a perfect white sand beach just 30 minutes south of Playa del Carmen, 10 minutes south of Akumal, 5 minutes north of Tulum and 20 minutes north of Sian Ka'an.
Other Activities: Casa Rosa is the perfect vacation home for friends and family visiting the Mayan Riviera. You can spend your entire vacation lounging in our freshwater pool, enjoying our chef's meals on our patio, and star gazing from our third floor terrace. Or you can use Casa Rosa as your home base for golfing, snorkeling, scuba, fishing, cenote diving, birding, and ruins adventures throughout the region. We are tucked away, but close to it all, with one of the most perfect beaches and soft, silky sand entries to Tankah Tres bay.
If you want to stay close by, just down the beach is Casa Cenote restaurant where you can experience fresh water snorkeling (in the cenote) and watch the fresh and ocean waters mix in front of the beachside restaurant, as well as the delicious Blue Sky Restaurant. Oscar y Lalo's, famous for fresh seafood, is located just north in Tankah 4 (also known as Solimon Bay). A little farther from home, but still only 10 minutes away are the many restaurants in nearby Akumal and Tulum. Playa del Carmen, about 30 minutes north, is also a fun destination for dinner and shopping.
Nearby there are world class golf courses, outstanding deep sea fishing and scuba trips, Mayan ruins, Sian Ka'an nature expeditions, cenote dives and snorkles, a myriad of boutique restaurants, bars and of course, fantastic beaches throughout the area.
