About this property

Nez Perce Stay & Play Cabins Unit #2

Welcome to our year-round getaway in the expansive Montana wilderness! We offer semi-rustic, cozy cabins in a natural, peaceful setting. You can look forward to hiking and fishing in the surrounding area during the spring & summer and hunting, skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and hot springs in the fall & winter.

Cabins are two separate units within a single structure. They are wood stove equipped for heating/cooking. Kitchenettes complete with hot burner, coffee maker, pots/pans. Comfy, quilt laden beds. Dishwashing (basin/sink provided), and running water for handwashing. Your heated bathroom is a short 30 yards from your cabin, there is a toilet and hot showers available. towels with complementary soap & shampoo are available in the shower room

ATTN HUNTERS: Enjoy some of the best elk hunting the area has to offer; you can hear the elk bugle from your cabin in the fall.

Access point for miles and miles of trails is located adjacent to the property. Bring your x-country skis/snowshoes. I keep miles of trails somewhat groomed for your skiing pleasure. Bring your snow tube or toboggan sled for endless sledding fun on an awesome tubing/sledding hill located on the northeast side of the property.

End your day by relaxing by the fire, snacking on s'mores under the star filled sky, and listening to the forest sounds beyond the gentle water running over the creek's small rapids while you rock your mind to sleep. Wake up to a good cup of coffee and gaze out over the beautiful mountain meadows as the peaceful nature comes alive.

Located:
:12 miles east of Lost Trail Ski Resort along Hwy 43
:13 miles west of the small cowboy town of Wisdom, Mt
: 2 miles west of the Big Hole Battlefield
: across from Foothills Rd. on the northside of Hwy 43

TRAVEL NOTES: We are located off a paved state highway. However, the area is still fairly remote and cell service is spotty. Traveling at night and in inclement weather can create challenges. We recommend planning your travel accordingly. In the event that you need assistance we are here and happy to help.

We are located north side of the road. There will be a 10ft x12ft Nez Perce Trail Stay & Play banner on the big jack fence by the main gate.

CHECKING IN : Will be on your own, follow the trail to your cabin and your name will be taped to your cabin door. Look for further instructions on your kitchen table in your cabin

I have two big Caucasian Shepherd dogs . They are friendly to people and other dogs however the shepherds are 200+ lbs dogs and they play rough. If you are bringing a pet, PLEASE let me know so I can kennel mine up during your stay.

Awesome experience!

It is a simple cabin tucked away in a peaceful wilderness; but so much more. A cross between camping out and a cabin, the wood stove keeps the place nice and warm, the animals are friendly and the hosts are wonderful. Highly recommend as a place to get off the grid and relax.

Perfectly balanced rustic comfort

We were only able to come out for one night and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Communication prior to visit after booking was quick and helpful and being met at check in to see how everything operates (rustic toilet and fireplace) was just great! On property trails let us stretch our legs after the long drive and then there was a lovely surprise by the campfire outside! Beds were comfy, even when the fire went out in the middle of the night it didn’t get too cool, however in winter months we would’ve thrown another log in before bed and it would’ve been fine. Being 7mo pregnant I had to use the restroom in the middle of the night, and was wondering how that would go since it wasn’t in cabin- and no problem! Flashlights plus a light on the porch and in the bathroom made it easy. We will definitely be back and can’t wait!

We stayed in our own cozy cabin on Dustin's property. The wood-burning stove was perfect to create a warm, comfortable space to come back to after a day of skiing at Lost Trail. Dustin was helpful and knowledgeable about the area. It was a great place to go to get away to for the weekend. The perfect reset from our busy lives. My only wish is that we could have stayed another night!

Last minute change

Unfortunately, after spending all day trying to reach the property owner, we were notified that the cabin has no working bathroom a couple hours before check in. We had to make alternative arrangements last minute, and were not offered any kind of refund even though we didn’t even stay there.

Awesome base camp for hunting

Great place very quiet and peaceful setting. Hosts were friendly and accommodating in every possible way. Camp fires and good conversations made us feel right at home. Hunt right out the back door if you want to see elk. Good times indeed.

Winter Glamping

Perfect location for a rustic cabin getaway. Being able to walk on the packed trail over to a vista overlooking The Big Hole was a bonus. We wished we had more time to explore all the access possible. Dustin and Angie were always available to help make our stay very enjoyable.

About the host

Host profile image
Myself, my son Jarrett, and seasonal host Kyla enjoy the outdoors and playing as much as we can; our activities include hiking, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, skiing, snowshoeing, and exploring various hot springs in the area. The nature, wildlife, and being outdoors brought us here; there is so much to do and enjoy and we would like to share our love for the outdoors with others.

Why they chose this property

It's about nature. You can walk outside your cabin door and be in the forest. There is avid wildlife in the area. You will enjoy listening to the trickle of the water as Trail Creek flows through the property. You can hear the native bird songs, enjoy the sunshine on your face, and breathe in the fresh mountain air. Lots of activities to do both on and nearby the property. Lost Trail Ski resort 12 miles away. Various hot springs within 30 miles. Big Hole Battlefield 2 miles away.

What makes this property unique

Your stay takes place inside the Beaverhead/Deer Lodge National Forest. Our wood stove heated cabins provide a warm, cozy ambiance.
