Why John, Will, & Julie chose Telluride Ski Resort
We chose to buy a home here because Telluride is spectacular. In the winter, the ski resort has 18 lifts turning, two high-speed gondolas, 148 ski trails, NASTAR course, terrain parks, backcountry and hike-to terrain, along with extreme & heliski terrain. And because it is so difficult to get here, the ski runs are always wide-open, and there is never a lift line. In the summer, the golf course, hiking, mountain-biking, rafting, paddle-boarding, fly-fishing is outstanding. Telluride is surrounded by mountains and has only 2221 residents - that's smaller than Mayberry RFD. The topography is a box-canyon, so it cannot grow in any direction. There are no crowds, bad attitudes or aggravation. The entire Town of Telluride is designated as a historical district, so the town maintains an 'old west' mining-town feel with strictly-governed Victorian architecture and many interesting places to explore (abandoned mining towns, ghost towns, etc.). Hop in your four-wheel drive and you can cross over the mountain passes and explore Telluride's mining past. Don't expect to see a chain store, a chain restaurant, a Starbuck's, a gas station, a neon sign, traffic, or even a single traffic light; there are none. This town's character and growth has been strictly controlled and restricted by the Town Council and the Telluride Historical Comission, and there have been no compromises. This is not Vail or Aspen - you will not find evidence of a single commercial sell-out in the Town of Telluride. This home is located on the ski mountain at 10,001' elevation, so it extremely private with incredible views, yet just a short ski run down the mountain and you are in the village core with the all the amenities offered by the 5-star resort hotels. If you are flying, the airport is just 10 min from the home, and can accomodate private planes and smaller commercial aircraft; however, be prepared for the landing on the mountain-top runway.
What makes this House unique
Ski-in / Ski-out. This alpine luxury mountain home offers some of the best ski-run frontage in Mountain Village. Over the years, our family has rented many homes that were represented as 'ski-in' or 'ski-out.' Unfortunately, most turned out to be only 'ski access.' This always meant a long hike (with gear and kids) at the beginning and/or the end of the day. This can sap the fun and energy out of a ski day for both the kids and the adults. Loading up a car, fooling around packing equipment, dealing with snow and ice on the roads, looking for parking - do you really want to mess with all of this frustration? When you stay in this home, you do not even need a car. As the home is alongside the Galloping Goose ski-run, you never have to leave the house. The kids can come and go, meet at the house, have lunch, drinks, change out gear, warm up by the fire, or just take a break. If you have kids, and you actually want to enjoy your own vacation, this is the place. Mom and Dad, you deserve a vacation too; if you have to be the driver, ski valet, equipment hauler, shuttle person, communications director and counselor (yes, little kids can get grumpy with 25 lbs of gear). As a bonus, living ON the mountain allows you 'fresh tracks' on your first run each morning, before the lifts even start turning. Be the envy of every powder hound - there is no better way to start your ski day! With the ski-mountain location at 10,001' elevation, you will be surrounded by pine and aspen trees, with total privacy and seclusion, as the home is located at the end of a 500-foot driveway, which is located at the end of a private road!

Fabulous House, great ski location
280 Benchmark was perfect for our three families, 6 adults and 8 children. Lots of space, clean and comfortable, great kitchen nicely equipped, wonderful views and the best ski in ski out we have ever had ! Highly recommend for group to enjoy the whole of Telluride. From check in to check out we were all very impressed, house was cosy, nice decor and activities / entertainment like pool table, dvd's etc were a nice touch. Local bus service door to door was amazing, with 10 minutes max wait. Great holiday ! Thank you !
Our wedding week :)
The property was absolutely beautiful and easily accommodated our group. The owners were quick to respond with various communication before and during our stay. Kitchen was fully stocked with needed equipment and utnesils. I would recommend this property to any large group looking to stay in Telluride any time of the year. Even being in a "neighborhood" the area was very private with the exception of a couple lone hikers on the ski trail. Unfortunately the bikes did not work very well but that did not make or break our trip in the least. We could not have asked for a better place for our wedding party to stay.
We are so glad to hear that you had a great wedding week at our home! We love to hear when others are enjoying their time and making memories at our home.
We apologize about some of the bikes being "out of service". We have 16 bikes but unfortunately they take some abuse throughout the year and it is important that guests let us know if issues come up, so we can get them fixed. Thank you for bringing it to our attention and we will be having all 16 bikes tuned up and ready to go for spring!
You and your group were great guests and we would love to have you back!

Beautiful getaway as a family
Our large family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 280 Benchmark. The home was spacious and comfortable with a long list of useful amenities. We all loved the location - secluded yet close to all the action. Owners were very responsive and genuinely cared about making our experience a positive one.
Lovely mountain get away
Beautiful and well appointed house. Accommodated a family reunion with 16 people with no problem. Was wonderful in the summer - I am sure it would be great in the winter as well.
Was wonderful. Only complaint is no towel racks or soap dish in showers. Had to place everything on the floor of shower
Spacious retreat in a picturesque setting
This was a perfect home to celebrate a family reunion. There are numerous bedrooms, providing ample space for all. The basement level is well-outfitted for kids with a bunk-room and numerous games. A hot-tub was an added bonus, as well as the balcony for gathering outside. I would highly recommend this place to others.
