## Emplacement
At the crossroads of the Porte de Ménilmontant (Paris 20), Chassagnolle (Lilas) and Dhuys (Bagnolet) districts, the neighbourhood, which is just one block from the capital, is commonly known as "Balipa" (for BAgnolet, LIlas, PAris) and is a 15-minute metro or bike ride from the very centre of Paris. The area, which has a village feel in the style of the "countryside in Paris" or "Mouzaia", is much appreciated for its greenery, calm, bucolic architecture, colourful facades, shops and proximity to Paris. It is well served by public transport and cycle paths (the route to Paris is easy and pleasant, as the ring road is covered at this point). The Place du Vel d'Hiv is its small centre, with its market, bakery, grocery shop, butcher and restaurant, all of which are popular with local residents. The area is also within easy reach of the attractive and historic shopping centres of Les Lilas and Bagnolet.
