About this property

Near Branson, but without the traffic jams and noise, new and ready for you!

The Patriot House, located on one acre in exclusive Taneycomo Estates, Rockaway Beach is totally updated with a Mexican flair. The owner has collected paintings, wall art, hand-loomed tapestries, rugs, pottery, baskets, and more, to give the home a cozy, comfortable feeling. You'll enjoy carrying your hand-painted Mexican pottery plate over to the custom-built reclaimed wood table with a hand-loomed table runner. In the morning or late afternoon, on our 30 ft. deck with shady pergola, join us for deer squirrel and bird watching!

The Patriot House, dedicated to our veterans who served with honor, offers 3 quiet and comfortable bedrooms:

The Patriot Suite: With a queen pillowtop mattress and "My Pillow" pillows, you're sure to get a great night's sleep so you'll be ready to explore Branson and the surrounding areas the next day. There's a large closet with refrigerator and microwave, a personal safe, and a 5-cup coffeemaker on the dresser. The furniture is all hand-made in Mexico, as is the décor. The double-Dutch doors open onto the deck, with a glass-top table and 4 chairs. Smoking is permitted on the deck. The blinds are remote controlled, and there are blackout curtains as well. Below the 50 in. smart TV, there's a remote-controlled electric fireplace for those chilly nights and mornings. The adjoining hall bath is exclusively yours, with fluffy, soft towels, and a large, seated shower with 3 different shower heads (overhead rain shower, wall shower head, and wand).

The Betsy Ross Suite: This large master bedroom offers a new pillowtop mattress, and a "My Pillow" mattress topper. The queen bed has lots of fluffy pillows, so you can enjoy the 65 in. smart TV. The double barn doors slide open to reveal your own personal deck space with a Mexican hammock and large umbrella. The cinder gray hardwood floor is topped with hand-loomed denim rugs from Mexico. There's an antique desk and chair, and a vintage rocking chair, as well as a wardrobe for your clothes. The en suite bath has a jetted tub with a wand shower head. The vanity and mirror are handcrafted out of reclaimed wood, with a petrified wood sink and a waterfall faucet. The large shower stall has a seat and 2 shower heads. The toilet is in its own room for privacy. You also have your own fridge and microwave for leftovers, a personal safe, as well as a 5-cup coffeemaker. Coffee (both regular and decaf) is provided, as are accoutrements.

Freedom Suite: Set up with a sofa/trundle bed (2 very comfortable twin beds), a Pack N Play, and a recliner for baby's feeding time, this comfortable room also has a 42 in. TV for gaming. Remote-controlled Levolor blinds, and a 3-tone plush carpet make this a cozy room for the kids.

The entire house is ready for your family to enjoy. The expansive living room with its 70 in. TV, and custom fireplace offers relaxation after a busy day in Branson. The lighted bar area in the kitchen offers guests the opportunity to mix their own drinks. The refrigerator makes craft ice (round balls), square cubes and crushed ice. Both the ice and water in the door are filtered. Bottled water is also available at no charge. We employ an honor system for the bar, which means that you make note of what you drink, and you'll pay in cash at the end of your stay. The kitchen appliances are all "smart," and the dishwasher has a special high temperature/steam setting to ensure that all dinnerware and utensils are sanitized. Longer staying guests may use the washer/dryer at no charge. Both have steam/sanitary cycles, so you can be assured that all bed linens and towels are germ/virus free.

Beautiful home
After staying at a VRBO for the first time I'm sure we are quite spoiled by staying at this home. This is a beautiful home and safe neighborhood. There were so many amenities and extra's. Watching the deer in the backyard was an added treat. Thank you.

Different than most
Overall it was a good stay, Susan was great and addressed everything promptly. The listing was for the most accurate and the house was clean and neat. There were a lot of "first times" for my wife and I on this trip. We usually always show up late to any rental, this was the first that the homeowner was there waiting on us to show us around. This was nice but not what we are into, after a long drive we just want to get there and relax. When we arrived I had to keep our dog on a leash for another 30 minutes while we were "showed" the house due to the fact that she had a cat in the house. This also was not mentioned in the listing, making for a long weekend for my wife and her severe cat allergies. It was also kind of strange walking into the master closet and it being full of clothes, the owner obviously stays in the home when not rented and stays in a travel trailer next to the house when the house is rented. Once again for most this may be normal, we have rented homes for years and have never been in this kind of scenario before. Nice house, nice neighborhood and Susan was great addressing anything.

Absolutely LOVELY
We cannot say enough about this property. We've stayed at several VRBO locations, but this one stands apart from the rest. To say the home is well-stocked is an understatement. Everything we needed and much more was provided. The home itself is exquisitely decorated. And to top it off, loads of deer come to the backyard and we got to feed them with the provided corn. Susan's hospitality made this stay an unforgettable experience. She literally treated us like family.

About the host

Host profile image
I'm a Branson native, and love acting as a tour guide to tell people about things to do, places to go, and what the best shows are. If you're interested in hiking, kayaking, swimming in a creek or other ways to commune with nature, just ask!

I have changed my career several times over my 72 years, but truly having guests in The Patriot House is one of the most rewarding.

I do laundry and cleanup daily (unless the service is not wanted), then I disappear and leave the 1900 sq. ft. house to you. I sleep in a motorhome on the property (also serving as my office). I tell people to consider me a housekeeper, seen occasionally and not heard. I make every effort to give you all the privacy you want and am available to cook for you, shop for you, pet-sit, and give suggestions to make your vacation the best ever!

I have an 8 lb.18-year-old cat that is mostly outdoors. I also have recently adopted a 6-year-old female poodle from a puppy mill. Neither pet is allowed in the bedrooms or on the furniture. They come in for the night with me in the RV. I have a robot vacuum and mop, and they clean the house amazingly. How do my fur babies react to other dogs and cats? Ritz the cat will disappear outside somewhere. Gwennie the dog likes dogs near her size (she's 7.5 lbs.) and gets a little freaked out by larger dogs but is getting used to all the guests (2-legged and 4-legged) coming through The Patriot House.

I do not enter the bedrooms while guests are here, unless specifically requested to fix or clean something, giving you the entire house. If you do plan on cooking in the kitchen, let me know and I will clean it for you afterward.

Every morning the deer wait for me to feed them. They like deer corn and apples. Please feel free to bring some! Sometimes I have up to 20 deer waiting to be fed.

You tell me what will make your vacation the best ever, and I will do everything to accommodate you, and I love doing it! God Bless all of you and The Patriot House.

Why they chose this property

As you enter, a feeling of peace and total relaxation will make you feel at home. My guests become friends, and I look forward to seeing everyone again. All the little personal touches in The Patriot House will fascinate and have you feel like you're part of a Mexican adventure (in a good way)! Everything is top-of-the-line, from the huge kitchen with smart appliances and rolling island, the custom hardwood floors throughout, the new beds, and unique waterfall plumbing fixtures. There are remote controlled blinds throughout, 3 huge smart TVs (70-, 65- and 50-in.), a gas child-safe fireplace finished in shiplap and red cedar, and so many artifacts you could walk around for an hour and not see it all.

It is named The Patriot House in honor of my husband, a Viet Nam veteran Mexican-American, who died last January, and also, as an extension, all veterans. I am a Patriot! I have the largest American flag in Rockaway Beach, and all veterans are welcome here! God Bless!

What makes this property unique

Peace and quiet, no pressure. Mi casa es su casa (My home is your home). No traffic, no lines, a great place to relax after busy Branson. I welcome people and their pets. I have found that pet owners are very responsible (and also very appreciative), when you accept pets. (It also helps to actually love animals as I do.)

The private woods and the herd of deer are also pretty unique. The white-tails know me and wait for me to feed them, but if you're quiet, and come out on the back deck when they're here, you can take your photos from about 10 feet. (Of course, if you have a young, noisy child, or a barking dog, you might not be able to get so close.)

We also have a mystery noise, which can best be described as a screech/scream/howl. I have no idea what it is. I've looked up wild boar, bobcats, panthers, and cougar sounds, and they don't match the sound that my guests and I have heard. One time this past summer I was feeding the deer. I heard this sound, and all the 15 or so deer looked up at the same time. The sound came again, and the entire herd took off, away from the woods in back. I've had a guest from the Arkansas Ozarks who said he's lived there his entire life, and he'd never heard anything like the screech/howl that we hear from time to time. I know it is a mystery to me, and I've spent a lot of time hiking our forests! Maybe my next guests can figure it out?
