About this property

A tropical inn on the river

Ideal for a long term rental. Minimum rental 30 days. Pet welcome. A meandering flagstone and grass patio, accented with a bubbling fountain, flower gardens and lounge chairs leads one to four french doors - the entrance into an 1000 square foot room of hand-scraped hardwood teak flooring accented with scattered wool throw rugs.

Light filters from all directions into this tropical setting of high ceilings, restored antique bamboo furniture and a lovely Tiffany chandelier. A plush leather couch, an oversized white linen comfy chair and stool, and a glass-topped dining table for 6 complete the furnishings for a small dinner gathering.

This large, open space is graced with a variety of art objects, hand painted pictures of tropical birds, an excellent kitchen with high-end appliances and custom designed glass cupboards. There is a queen-sized Murphy bed, easily raised and lowered into the wall through a built-in hydraulic system and a large separate bedroom with a king sized bed, closet, chandeliers, TV armoire, ceiling-to-floor river rock wall, high ceilings, teak flooring and a large picture window - all tropical in decor.

There is a back door that opens out into more flower gardens and a path to a river island. Eiderdown bedding, linens and all kitchen accessories are provided making this very special 'turn-key' place a 'home.' The heated floors and double-insulation keep the interior cool in the summer and evenly warm in the winter months.

Rent includes all utilities, satellite TV, high speed internet, a washing machine and dryer and limited maid service.

Lovely river side guest house
The sound of the Roaring Fork River as it flows over the rocks and the sight of the Milky Way at night is enough to recommend this lovely guest house. The perfect size for two and the dog was welcome too. It's a little ways out from downtown Aspen. So be sure Camilla tells you how to navigate McLain Flats to eliminate traffic. Camilla is delightful and a gracious hostess. You can't go wrong with this property!

Perfect Dog retreat
The location is so relaxing. Our dog loved the yard. Clos to town for dinner but away for quiet. Clost to many great hikes.

Hidden Gem in the Valley!
Camilla and her beautiful guest house were absolutely charming! Woodycreek is a fantastic location with just a short easy drive to Snowmass and Aspen. The sky lights and double french doors to the private fenced in yard allow light to make this apartment a calm and inviting space. The furniture and decor of the guest house is chic and high quality, the beds and furniture are all VERY comfortable. Camilla has made sure that her guests have all the amenities you could ask for (W/D, dishwasher, smart TV, dish, etc..) and she is very responsive should you need anything else, including her best tips for visiting the valley. We couldn't have had a better experience at this Tropical guest house and we look forward to coming back again and again!

About the host

Hosted by Alexandra or Camilla

Host profile image
Camilla, your hostess, was once a teacher of history, English, and political science in Aspen. This circuitously led to the establishment of a very unique, specialty restaurant in the early 1970′s.

Picturesque and unusual, this restaurant was featured nationally in magazines and newspapers as advertisement for Aspen’s community and ambiance. Following the sale of this business were some years involved in Medieval and Renaissance art and designing silk clothing and jewelry in India and Hong Kong. International experience and a deep love for “adventure” in faraway places culminated in the development of Elephant and Associates – an adventure travel company specializing in Nile River trips on King Farouk’s old paddle boat.

African safaris, from camels to treks both in Kenya and Kashmir, and to remote regions like Ladakh, added immense learning. Scuba diving – the Red Sea being a favorite – biking in China and Europe and in the 90′s, a working partnership on a charter yacht in the Caribbean on board a 75 NZ sloop satiated some of the wonder lust. An infinity for diverse cultures, education, adventure, and love of people has settled into the spice, decor and “hominess” of CasaCamilla.

Why they chose this property

The properties are filled with original art and artifacts from around the world. This may not be an appropriate residence for families with children from age 1 1/2 to 18. Please call to discuss.

All items are inventoried between guest stays. Any damages or missing objects will be deducted from the guest’s credit card or cash deposit. Please leave this house as you found it so others and yourself may enjoy this special place in the future.

We love dogs, and they are welcome to stay so long as they are mellow and do not bark.

What makes this property unique

This property is 3 to 15 minutes from all 4 Aspen ski areas. We are also near many bike trails as well as a bus stop. The property has a fishing island with a beach, fire pit and lounge chairs on the Roaring Fork River
