About Gail Baker
This home in Dollar Point Subdivision of Tahoe City was my primary residence where my kids grew up and went to school. They walked to the pool by themselves and it is on a very quiet short street. Dollar Point is the nicest subdivision on the North Shore with the best and most amenities. I live in Truckee so I am close by to take care of the property. I know you will enjoy your stay at my home.
Gail Baker purchased this House in 1994
Why Gail Baker chose Dollar Point
I didn't want to sell my wonderful home when I bought a new home in Truckee so I decided to turn it into a vacation rental in 2002. The location in Dollar Point is the best and I can still use all of the amenities.
What makes this House unique
Dollar Point has the best amenities of any other subdivision in North Lake Tahoe. Don't be fooled by VRBO's listing of Dollar Point properties. Most of them listed in Dollar Point aren't really in Dollar Point and they don't have all the amenities. Make sure to ask about the amenities. As of June 24, 2019 there is a fee to use the amenities of $10/day/person age 6 and older.

Dollar Point
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The house was clean, as-pictured, and comfortably furnished with thoughtful upgrades. Also had a gorgeous lake view and located within a nice, quiet neighborhood. The wood burning fireplace was temporarily out of service so we only used the gas fireplace, and the downstairs shower was small so we only used the upstairs shower. Nor did we use any HOA amenities. Owner promptly responded to all communications. We had a great time and would definitely return!
Tahoe
Great property. Nice view from the deck. Close to Tahoe City.
Nice house is Dollar Pt
Nice property and very clean. Automatic garage doors a little problematic but we finally got them to work. Kitchen could use some new pots and pans.
Everything we were looking for in a Tahoe home
We really enjoyed our stay in this Dollar Point house. The kitchen was spacious for preparing our meals which we cooked on the grill outside. We spent most of our time on the deck enjoying the view of the lake. I would recommend this house to a family of four like ours. It was a nice vacation for our dog as well. Plenty of quite streets for walking the dog.
The private beach and pool are an especially nice bonus in the summer.
Great view, immaculate home
The location was central to everything we wanted to do. Loved the view of the lake from several rooms and decks.
Clean, but smells like smoke, unfriendly owner.
We were expecting a smoke free home, when we arrived the place was immaculate but smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke. So, despite the cleanliness of the home (the pics do represent the home well), it was an unpleasant stay due to the terrible smell of cigarette smoke. There is no 'meet & greet" at this property, so you are on your own once you arrive. Despite our assurances that we were quiet people and not partiers, the owner seemed paranoid that we would abuse the home or overcrowd it and this was the focus of our interactions. It was a big turn off, and this attitude almost sets the tome for conflict. We have 5 homes on VRBO, our interactions with our guests are always centered on giving them a positive experience, offering the advice on activities, always trying to provide exceptional service- because whether you like it or not, you are in the hospitality business when you are on VRBO. That was not the focus here. The focus here was highlighting the rules of the home, and the guest policy and not being friendly. Customer service and a good bedside manner are not at the forefront of this rental. With that said, the photos' of this home do match up with reality and Dollar Point is a great neighborhood with good amenities.
Wow this is unbelievable. First of all I checked with my housekeeper who has been cleaning my home for over 25 years and she said there was no smell of smoke or any cigarette butts anywhere prior to your arrival. When you requested a reservation it was very unclear and I asked for clarification which you did not respond to so I had to ask again which was this response, "Prior to accepting your reservation request I would like to hear your answers to my previous message which I will repeat here.
Your inquiry was not very clear. Looking to rent your beautiful home for a summer vacation with our. What????? Who are the seven adults and how old are they? Do you realize that there are three bedrooms? One with a King, one with a Queen, and one with a double trundle and a twin that gets pulled out and takes up most of the room. Usually the last room is used by children.
After I accepted the reservation I sent the rental agreement with no response or signed agreement so another response from me was "I am getting very frustrated that I have not received the signed rental agreement that was sent to you on 3/27 and then again on 4/2. I have texted the (415) 377-xxxx number and when I didn't receive a response I then called and left a message. I will not rent my home without a signed rental agreement.
This has been a very strange situation with the fact that John B. is who is requesting the rental but Katie S. (whoever that is has been responding to messages) and then Laith S. made the payment. I need to know who is going to be responsible for this rental and have them sign the agreement otherwise I am going to have to cancel the reservation.
I hope this can get resolved soon so I know whether to put it back in the rental pool."
Another red flag with this rental is that you bought the Extra Protection which is very rare when you have a security deposit.
When you made the reservation you didn't know who would be staying at the house so when I sent the rental information I reiterated the maximum amount of people allowed in the house.
Seeing as you own two homes in Dollar Point for the past two years I don't think you need any further information nor did you ask for more information. For someone with so many VRBO rentals of your own I can't believe that you would not respond to my responses and then give a review like this.

Nearby Mountain Biking & Bike Trails, Rafting on the Truckee River, Gambling, 8 Lakeside restaurants within 15 minutes, 8 Ski areas within 30 minutes, 9 golf courses within 30 minutes. If you are interested in renting a motor boat, jet ski, Stand Up Paddle Boards, and Kayaks they are available in Tahoe City only 5 minutes from the home. Stand Up Paddle Boards are also available in Carnelian Bay 5 minutes away.
Emerald Bay is not to be missed which is the most photographed picture of Lake Tahoe. There is also the beautiful Vikingsholm at the end of the bay which has a great tour for a minor fee. The Tea House on the island is very cool too. Eagle Falls is right there and if you cross the highway there is another great hike to another beautiful lake.
One of the most favorite hikes that I take friends who visit Tahoe is the Rubicon Trail to Emerald Point which is another option. It is mostly along the water with the most fantastic views of Big Blue!
Sand Harbor on the East Shore is a beautiful beach and the East Shore usually has warmer water for swimming.
There are so many options for fun please feel free to ask me any questions because I have lived in the area since 1972.
