About this property

Great for traveling nurses, wedding parties, & business travelers. You will feel right at home in our private two story, 3 bedroom home with vaulted ceilings & view of Cedar Lake. Fully equipped kitchen includes coffee makers, waffle maker, & crockpot & spice cabinet. Linens, towels and washer /dryer are provided.

You have full access to the house, front porch with a beautiful lakeview, back deck and patio, with a fire-pit, gas grill and spacious lawn & private wooded backyard to enjoy nature. (Basement & garage not included.) We are a family-friendly home and do not allow house parties. We have a large driveway with ample parking for a boat or jet ski trailer as well as several vehicles.

Enjoy the lake breeze and beautiful sunset on the front porch. Start your morning with a cup of coffee watching the birds from the deck overlooking the peaceful wooded backyard. You may even see a few humming birds, a hawk, or an occasional eagle or deer. Unwind after a long day at the lake on the patio, cooking out on the gas grill, or roasting marshmallows in the fire pit.

Beautiful home, great place to stay

My family had a wonderful time during our stay. We travelled from Ohio to spend Thanksgiving with my parents, and then took my family to Chicago for their first time. All of us had plenty of room for each person to have their own bed. We were able to enjoy the firepit out back, and spend family time watching movies in the living room. We saw deer, woodpeckers, and various other birds on the feeder. This is a beautiful and comfortable home. Thanks for the personal touches as well.

Vacation stay

The house was amazing. Great location with restaurants close by and a great ice cream shop. Great place to relax after a long day of being out at the ball field.

Perfect place in Cedar Lake

We came to Cedar Lake to attend a baby shower and we couldn't have been more pleased with the location, house and the hospitable hosts! So many things to do and an incredible setting with the view of Cedar Lake. I will recommend to family and friends when we have other occasions in the area!

About the host

We are two sisters Roni & Carrie who grew up in the house across the street on the lake. This property was owned by our grandparents, John & Marie Collins. They ran this property and several on the lakefront known as Collins Cottages. The property was once called Terrace Gardens in the 1920's, owned by Ruth Ackerman. We feel like opening our home for guests is a reinvestment to it's historical value. Our childhood home across the street now belongs to Carrie.

Why they chose this property

On a prime location, experience lake life on Cedar Lake.
Cedar Lake is an 800 acre lake, located in Northwest Indiana, less than and hour from Chicago. Amenities such as the public access boat launch, fishing pier & the visitor center is less than 1/2 mile away from you. You can rent paddle boards, kayaks, and boats at the marina or Bugaboats. Many local restaurants are less than 5 minutes away; such as the Light House restaurant, Rosati’s, Pop’s, Sand Bar, Burger King, McDonalds and others are all within 2-3 miles. Lemon Lake County Park which has a large playground, picnic shelters, walking trail and disc golf is just 5 minutes away. The town square at Crown Point is very close, about a 10 minute car ride with many great restaurants, small shops, antiques and a farmers market on the weekend.
