About this property

Private, idyllic, 1811 farmhouse on 40 acres with pool

The property is set on a quiet, unpaved road in a protected and secluded hillside location that affords both 360 degree, "see no neighbor" privacy and far-reaching farmland views from every window over streams, ponds, barns and the in-ground pool. The vintage farmhouse has been renovated throughout to sympathetically combine authentic detail twin beds, beautiful summer lounge and a covered stone porch overlooking the pool, perfect for evening cocktails The farmstead also features a huge two-story, hand-hewn and character with contemporary conveniences and style. The "Back Barn" summer cottage sits adjacent to the farmhouse and the (42') in-ground pool. It offers a separate, comfortable, and rustic summer oasis with its own recently installed walk-in shower, two hay/dairy barn and several other outbuildings. including a three car garage barn. All of the structures are set in the middle of a private 40 acre estate that features a combination of hay fields, stone walls, an apple orchard, a pond, stream and beaver dam! The property is close to the hip and pretty river towns of Narrowsburg, Callicoon, Cochecton and the amenity-rich, up and coming town of Honesdale PA.

Lovely retreat away from it all
The property owners were terrific to work with through the entire process. The main house is an early 1800s farmhouse that has been lovingly cared for and updated, with four bedrooms upstairs. We love having a full bathroom indoors and also an outdoor shower, which was very comfortable also. The kitchen has a propane range, but we mostly cooked outside on the grill on the gorgeous patio. The mornings on the front porch with coffee and drinks and dinners on the patio by the pool and firepit were among our favorite parts of the stay. The second house has a common space downstairs and sleeps three upstairs with a modern bathroom. The property is on a dirt road, away from everything, just a perfect retreat. But we also loved being close to great Delaware River towns like Calicoon and Narrowsburg where we enjoyed farmers markets and lovely restaurants and also enjoyed dinner and ice cream in Honesdale. We hope to come back to the area and stay in this home again soon.
