The Centre district of Rennes is considered to be the historic centre of the Breton city. Divided in two by the Vilaine crossing, the Centre comprises old buildings grouped together in the old centre. These private mansions bear witness to the 18th and 19th centuries, but there are also timber-framed houses dating back to the Middle Ages. The Portes mordelaises, remnants of the city walls of Rennes, are a must-see. There is also the Parliament of Brittany, dating back to the 17th century. In addition to these remains, Rennes city centre has a wide range of shops and cafés to discover.
