About Frank O'Reilly
They say that some opportunities are 'once in lifetime' but our family's opportunity to own this magical property was 'once in many lifetimes" as the farm was owned by the previous owners since before the Civil War. Being in construction and real estate for over 35 years I can say that if I had set off to find a property like this it would have been impossible...now it is our family's delight to share it with all of you.
Frank O'Reilly purchased this House in 2005
Why Frank O'Reilly chose Front Royal
Ever dream of rolling hills of green surrounded by woodlands washed with ever changing light and cloud... with a river flowing around it all! Rolling River Farm is such a place. Some folks come and find it hard to leave. It is easy to get to (an hour from the Washington Beltway). It is literally within sight of Shenandoah National Park and George Washington National Forest yet with easy access to restaurants, wineries, and shops.
What makes this House unique
Private waterfront destination with over 100 acres to roam and explore. Great for large family reunions with other Rolling River Holiday cottages within walking distance.

Great Property for Large Families
This was a nice space for larger families and worked well with an event we were attending. The game room and additional bath are located in a detached barn area away from the house, which was fine, but I may have overlooked that in the descriptive. It was very much an underused space as a result, but much of that had to do with weather during our time there (Jan.). Another consideration is the road and additional gate that is required to access the property. I think that this became more apparent to us as we were lock/unlock the gate at night to enter the property as well as the single lane road to get to it in less than ideal weather. That said, once you are there, it is a great space with beautiful views, respectable internet connection if you need to plug-in (which we did), and it is clean and well stocked. The owners are very receptive to any needs and check in process was not only easy, but the owners were kind enough to allow us to enter early and stay late. If staying in the area with a larger group, this is definitely a wonderful property to meet your needs. Especially if you have school age and older kids.
Thanks for the complimentary review. Having Irish parents and relations I am used to apologizing for bad weather, so no worries on that score, but I still wish it was always perfect!
We love the rec-room being detached because it is wonderful to let the kids and young at heart stay up late and make a racket without disturbing our "adult" conversation and peacefulness.
For clarification on the gate: there is only one gate and keeping it closed is optional for each guest. I can understand given bad weather that it could be no fun. We hope to have an electric gate working later in 2020. Rolling River Farm is on 108 acres and is at the end of a mile long road running along the river. The gate is almost a third of a mile from the farmhouse. Coming through the farm gate onto a private domain and seeing the rolling farm fields and mountain vistas ahead is still one of my favorite experiences!
We are always looking for ways to improve and it is helpful to have positive feedback so many thanks for taking the time.

A favorite spot
We've stayed here multiple times and it has become a favorite spot for our entire family. A truly beautiful piece of land that allows you to unplug and relax.
Thank you Dvora and family. It is one of the greatest rewards of sharing Rolling River Farm when so many guests become annual visitors. We have seen some kids grow up and go off to college! I hope you have many years of unplugging and relaxing with your family.

Jewel of the Shenandoah
This property is amazing and Frank is a fantastic host. Stayed here twice this year and will be back. Private, perfect for families, we rented the pontoon boat as well. Great for water activities and sunset cruises. Riverside area is the best camping area I've ever seen in northern Va. Again this property is fantastic. Thanks again Frank.
Hi Jason, It was a pleasure to host you twice this year! I think you may be the champion at getting the most out of your time at Rolling River Farm (as well as being a hammock champ). Looking forward to seeing you in 2020!
Best Regards, Frank and Angelique
A memory maker!
There isn’t a kinder property owner than Frank OReilly! The property setting is ideal for true relaxation with breathtaking views, the Shenandoah River and a wonderful, updated farm house. The National Park and lots of America’s rich history are close by if you choose to leave the peaceful setting of the farm! Our only disappointment... we couldn’t stay another week!!!
Hi Ken, I am a humbled by such a generous review. One of the most satisfying experiences we could have is sharing Rolling River Farm with folks who come to love it as much as we do. It is a dream property...the rolling fields and woods on a full bend of Virginia's Shenandoah River...surrounded by the Blue Ridge mountains. I always say if you had all the money and tried to find a property like this you wouldn't be able to!Even after all these years it remains a magical experience for me. Thanks for coming and sharing yours.

A house away from it all
We had a wonderful stay at this property. The owner was a pleasure to work with. The house was clean and the view was great and very relaxing. The river was also very nice, minus the mud if trying to walk in. When jumping off the dock and getting back on that way, there was no issue with the mud. It is a bit of a walk down to the river, but we enjoyed the exercise! We had a lovely time overall!
Word this property at end of dead end road, with rolling meadows to stroll, riverfront, house with character and visiting deer and other wildlife.
It is a privilege to host international travelers such as you and your family. The Shenandoah River and Blue Ridge mountains do converge most wonderfully at Rolling River Farm. I am so glad you found us from your home overseas.
