We came out west as snowbirds from Minnesota & Wisconsin. We wanted sunshine, warmer weather, and open spaces. And we found that here in New Mexico. We bought this place as a fixer upper in October before the Covid hit. We want to let friends, family and others enjoy the outdoors and scenic area. There are a number of National monuments within 2hrs distance. We've seen many of them and want to visit more. We love remodeling, learning the Navajo language, visiting with people and sharing encouragement with our neighbors and with the people we meet. We love animals, but need to limit that to the chickens, peacocks, dog and cat. We're retired and like to work around the yard.

Why they chose this property

This property has many pluses. It has a large fenced in yard to keep the wildlife out. There are coyote, rabbit, deer, free roaming dogs at times, skunkss and raccoons. So far the fence has kept them out. The small chicken coop and pen is centered in the enclosure with a nice walking path around the backyard. There is an open shadehouse that has a nice breeze blowing through it all year round which makes it perfect for those 90+ degree days in the summer. We've planted a number of trees on the property for privacy and shade. The neighbors are friendly, it's reasonably quiet, and there are many dogs that will warn the neighborhood if anything is happening. Beyond our back fence is the desert where barrel cactus and prickly pear cactus can be found. A row of older standing trees run along the irrigation ditch and gives us the pretense of the woods with a stream. Further along the water ditch is the sound of a waterfall and regular stream giving us the impression that we are near the woods back in Minnesota and Wisconsin. And even though we are in a subdivision, this site is open, so we can see the beautiful stars at night. So we don't get homesick. Yes, this acre plus has the best of both states for us.
