About this property

Glamping in the Carrizo Plains

Looking for a unique camping experience, miles off the beaten path? Want to see a million stars, far away from the lights of the city?
Grab your sleeping bags and get away to the Carrizo Plains, one of the most unique landscapes California has to offer. Come check out the Little Brave House and glamp in style. In the spring months, the Carrizo Plains explode with colorful wildflowers and the Soda Lake ecosystem blooms to life. In the off season, it is golden brown as far as the eye can see. All year long, it is home to wildlife unique to this area, including birds, fox, rabbits, coyotes and the elusive Pronghorn antelope.

The Little Brave House offers unique accommodations in the middle of this incredible setting. Our off-the-grid cabin offers many of the comforts of home, including a comfortable Zinus cloud memory foam mattress, an outhouse with camping toilet, solar electricity, WiFi, books, board and lawn games. You will find a propane heater, a propane cooking stove, and two BBQ grills. Leave your world behind for a while and come see what nature has to offer.

This is a bring your own Water, Propane, Food, and Consumables type of glamping location. We provide the accommodation and amenities to use, you clean after and provide the essentials for yourself. Please don't forget to pack out your trash, so we can keep the landscape clean and pristine!

The Little Brave House is a spare cabin. The description was a bit unclear about how minimal the amenities are. There is a propane heater which we did not use as we were instructed to bring our own propane. We understood that there would be electricity. Upon arrival, we could not turn on lights. We contacted the owner through VRBO and were told about a switch in the electrical unit. I’m not sure we would have found that without a sign on the wall pointing it out. Yay! We had planned to have dinner and breakfast and had purchased instant foods that could be “cooked” by adding hot water. We tried to plug in our electric tea kettle but an alarm sounded, so we were not able to make hot water~ so no cup of soup for dinner nor coffee the following morning. The out house was difficult to access as the door did not slide open easily. Once inside, may we suggest a bucket under the port a potty lined with a plastic bag to collect waste? There was nothing but the seat. From the description, we knew the cabin was spare. We didn’t expect it to be so challenging to stay warm, to eat warm food and to attend to bathroom needs. The WiFi was very strong!

The property is a fun camping experience. Very quiet and it was great to have a nice bed to sleep in! If you want off the grid, this is it! We went during the bloom and it was beautiful!
