Great Acadia location
A great location for exploring Acadia National Park. This cottage has a great kitchen and comfortable furnishings
Fantastic place just outside of Acadia and Bar Harbor
We stayed late August and had a wonderful time. The property was clean and tidy when we arrived and the living room felt bigger than the pictures in the listing made it seem. Most of the days we took the Island Explorer bus into Bar Harbor or we just parked at the Acadia Visitor Center at Hulls Cove and rode bikes around the park from there. Both were very easy commutes and made our vacation exploring a breeze.
Property was perfect for making breakfast in the morning and having a relaxing evening with breeze coming in through the windows. Only negative we can think of is with the back sliding door open there is some noise from the busy road nearby. the noise didn't prevent a good night's sleep and was only noticeable when we had the door open for air flow or were relaxing on the back porch in the cool evenings.
We really liked the high ceiling in the living space and the ceiling fan. It made the area feel more open and light.
Thank you for your thorough review. The building is well insulated so closing the door on the back side takes care of the noise and you still have other windows and fans and air conditioning. The air conditioner is also portable and can be moved into the bedroom.
The place was nice, clean and had everything we needed. It's close to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Would definitely rent again when we come back to this area again.
We enjoyed our stay at this property. It is a great location to access Acadia National Park easily. The neighborhood was quiet and relaxing. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was fairly well stocked. Susan was friendly and got back to us in a timely manner when we had some questions. We tried some of their restaurants suggestions and had great meals. Our few downsides are these. The shower doesn't have much power and isn't very large. We found a used sample sized shampoo bottle on the floor of the shower towards the end of our stay (it was white and blended into the shower floor, and because I don't usually shower in contacts, I had not seen it sooner). The property did seem clean when we arrived, but finding that in the shower made us wonder if the shower had been cleaned. My other issue was accuracy of the description of the property having a/c. There is a portable a/c unit in the main living area. It does a good job of the main area, but it does nothing for the bedrooms. They remained hot. We had to cool by windows in the bedrooms, and it was very hot (upper 80s, low 90s) several days we were there. This may not be a deal breaker for some people, but I do like to be cold when I sleep so this was not an ideal discovery. If you are fine with sleeping with windows open for cool air, then you should be fine. We just wished that detail about the a/c would have been more clear on the description up front so we knew what we were getting into. They did provide fans, which did help in the bedrooms, and I appreciated that. Overall, a pretty good stay!
Thank you for your review. It’s good to hear what you liked as well as didn’t like. The air conditioner is on wheels and can be moved to the bedroom. I’ll add that to my description on Homeaway. I will also check with the current guests with regard to the water pressure and have it taken care of. It’s good to know about things like that since I’m in there so briefly once a week. I can’t explain the bottle of shampoo. I’m very sorry that it was overlooked by the cleaner and myself when I went through after her. Thanks, again. Sue and Mike
We couldn’t have asked for better. The property was clean, the owners were so friendly, and the location was fantastic. We were close to Acadia and Bar Harbor which was exactly what we wanted.
Second Time Is The CHARM
Our first try at a VRBO was awful because it was so dirty. This tiwas perfect! The place was just right for our family of four. It came with several items we didn't expect like dish soap, bath soap, T.P., and laundry detergent, which was a plus since I forgot a few of the items.
The place was in the PERFECT location to Acadia Park and Bar Harbor. We hiked every day, road bikes, watched the sunrise, played Putt-Putt, played in the sandbar, enjoyed seafood, and reconnected as a family. It was one of the best vacations we have had so far.
One suggestion is to have brochures/magazine/newspaper of surrounding activities, restaurants, shops, so you can schedule the week out ahead of time or book reservations.
Thank you for the suggestion about the brochures. I usually tell people to start at the Information Center in Acadia National Park if it's their first time in the area. Everything that you want to know about the island is there.

Leave your car and take the island wide bus. Go on a whale watching trip. Go on a nature cruise and see puffins and seals. Go golfing at one of the three golf courses on MDI or go miniature golfing at Pirates Cove. Go for a swim in one of the fresh water lakes or ponds or try the cold ocean water at Sand Beach. Rent bikes or canoes or kayaks. Enjoy fine dining or casual in one of the many wonderful restaurants on the island.
