Norman Brand purchased this House in 1989
Why Norman Brand chose Poipu
My husband, Walter Briant,(who passed away 8 years ago) and I built this home as a very special vacation rental at Poipu Beach. It was built in a Japanese style and is furnished with japanese antique tansus. We built it on our 1/2 acre property at the Poipu Beach resort area but it is on a dead end street so is quiet though very near to all resort amenities.
What makes this House unique
Pua Hale is a unique one of a kind vacation rental in Poipu. the house itself is beautifully designed and It is uniquly furnished with Japanese antique furniture and garden sculpture as well as modern comfortable furniture. Though near the resort area, it is on a very quiet dead end street and surrounded by a high wall and is totally private. It is a short 5 minute walk (if you walk slowly) from Poipu Beach park itself where people enjoy swimming at Poipu Beach, rated as one of the best beaches in the world. The kitchen is totally outfitted with anything you will need to cook a gourmet meal and there is a complete laundry room attached to the back of Pua Hale.

So private and comfortable
This is a free standing home that has a very relaxing environment. Full, well equipped kitchen but no dishwasher. Japanese soaking tub is great. Short drive to Poipu beach park. Host Norman was very accommodating. Fresh flower arrangement, coffee beans and fresh bananas greeted us. Beach chairs, pool noodles, umbrella available to borrow. Nice washer and dryer. Generally the house has enough ventilation/fans to stay comfortable, we did however use the optional air conditioning a few days. Would stay here again.
Amazing. Exceeded all expectations. Norman was an awesome host. Can't wait to return.
My wife and I feel so grateful for this to have been our first Kauai experience. It is such an amazing, private space and the location could not be better being so close to the beaches and other local eateries and shopping. We were so sorry to hear about Carol Ann's passing. You can see how much time and effort she put into Pua Hale and can feel her energy the entire time you are there. We are certain to return and look forward to it!
We really enjoyed our stay at Pua Hale. It was clean, quite, peaceful, and comfortable. We loved being so close to Poipu but yet just far enough away from the hustle/bustle of the beach. We enjoyed waking up each morning looking at the beautiful landscaping around the house. Great stay!!
A lovely retreat!
This is such a sweet cottage in a real neighborhood, which was perfect for us. A quick walk to Poi'pu Beach Park for excellent snorkeling each morning, and an easy drive to anywhere else on the south shore. We were sad to hear that Carol Ann had passed away the week before we arrived. Her art work and love of Kauai were felt by us in her cottage. My heart goes out to her loved ones. Mahalo for a lovely special place.
Thank you for taking the time to write. We will all miss Carol Ann as she was a life force for us all. She loved Kauai so much.
Wonderful space in kauai
