About Ruby Rich and Mary Peelen
We live in San Francisco but spend our spare time in Paris. The minute we arrive in our Paris apartment, we seem to relax and breathe a little easier and smile a little more. We adore our walks through the streets of Paris. Above is a photo of Mary exploring a new area of the city, thrilled with the discovery of village life in the midst of an outlying neighborhood. We have fixed up the apartment to reflect our own desire for Parisian ambience, but with all the conveniences so we can enjoy life there. Come see for yourself!

Why Ruby Rich and Mary Peelen chose 3rd Arrondissement
We bought this home to have one foot in Paris. We are city-lovers and chose an absolutely central neighborhood that's beloved by Parisians themselves for both food and history. Ours is a block filled with the highest-quality food and specialty shops. It's close to the Right Bank's museums and shops, while at the same time full of stone buildings and stories that give off a sense of history that we just don't get in the U.S. The greatest adventure? Walking the streets of the Marais! It's always our first ritual upon arriving to walk down to the Seine. And then to spend every day walking further and further afield, always finding new favorite places to experience and pass on to our guests. Paris is all about discovery, and we love to combine impromptu walking tours with the daily return to our beloved, well-known nieghborhood with its unique attractions.
What makes this Apartment unique
Number one? I'd have to go with the best pastry. Pain de Sucre is RIGHT NEXT DOOR and their pastry is unequaled. Also the best cheese shop is across the street. Very amazing Italian restaurant across the street too. Also? Our place is just so cute. There is a sense of magic, charm and vitality in our little corner of the Marais. On every trip there we visit the Carnavalet Museum which is just 5 minutes away. It's free and the entire history of Paris is documented there --they even have Proust's room.

Cute Apartment in the heart of the Marais
We really enjoyed staying in this charming 2 bedroom apartment in the Marais. It didn't disappoint. It was two blocks away from the metro station and the Pompidou. There were lots of great shops and restaurants close by. The building has a (very small) elevator. We would recommend staying here.
Charming and lively
My husband and I spent 2 weeks in the Adorable Apartment this month and had a wonderful time, just the 2 of us. Ruby and Mary have done a wonderful job outfitting the apartment with the conveniences that make your stay smooth and rewarding. They have provided a well written booklet of information on how everything works, and fabulous recommendations for restaurants, shopping and local tourist attractions you might not otherwise know about. The Marais is definitely a lively neighborhood and had excellent local restaurants, groceries and of course the best Boulangers and patisseries you could ever want to step into. We ate some late lunches that left us not too hungry for dinner and local takeout is very good. The beds are very comfortable - we are in our early 70’s and that’s important. The biggest negative is the noise factor that goes on a bit later that we liked but by turning on the fans ( it was pretty warm for September) it created a sort of white noise that covered the sounds from the street. With windows closed noise was not an issue but it was too warm to leave them closed in the late afternoon and at night. We found the apartment perfect for the 2 of us as we enjoy chilling out in the morning before venturing out for the day and at late afternoon before going out to dinner. 4 adults might find it a bit small.
The elevator was very reliable if a bit of a tight fit for 2 - we preferred using it one at a time. We definitely recommend anyone interested in staying in this part of Paris to consider this apartment - it’s a great location and a comfy place to stay.
This is a lovely apartment with a very Parisian feel. It is located in the heart of the Marais, surrounded by good restaurants and cute boutiques. We were four on a gals trip and this apartment suited us just fine. At first we thought it might feel small but, instead, it felt cozy and perfect. If you want to be in a dynamic part of Paris, this is the apartment.
So delighted with your response! We think so, too, and tried to make it feel like "our" Paris as much as possible. Glad you had a great stay. Do come back again.
Everything as it should be
This is my third time renting an apartment in Paris and by far my best experience. The apartment was comfortable, convenient to central Paris, and all appliances came with clear operating instructions and were in good order. The owner provides a manual for the apartment and the neighborhood that is very thorough and helpful.
We are so happy that you were so pleased with our apartment, which we treat as our own home and where we will be pleased to welcome you back, any time! Thanks so much for sharing.
Adorable Apartment in Paris
We had a wonderful week in Paris clearly enhanced by the comfort and convenience of the Adorable Apartment. All needs can be met by the numerous shops, stores and restaurants in the immediate vicinity. The Marias neighborhood is welcoming and lively. We easily walked to the main attractions of Paris. Should we have the good fortune to return to Paris, the Adorable Apartment will be our first choice for lodging.
So glad that you loved our apartment, and yes, do come back!
My husband, 22 month old son, and I loved our stay at this wonderful apartment. Great location, easy to access everything! The apartment had everything we were looking for when traveling with a small child- two rooms, a common area, a bathtub and an elevator. The elevator is small but still great to have, especially with a toddler and a stroller. They were even able to arrange for us to have a crib which really made a huge impact on our luggage! Definitely recommend this apartment to future travelers.
This area is bursting with Cafes, Galleries, Museums, historic sites, shops of all kinds, and the kind of street life that you only dream about.
Our block is a gourmet paradise: there's a greengrocer, wine, chocolate, cheese, fish, a butcher, bakeries all just steps away.-- Parisians' favorite spot to shop for the best ingredients.
If you don't cook, don't worry, there are wonderful restaurants and traiteurs with prepared foods right on our street too; it's truly a foodie paradise
We're just steps from Les Archives Nationales and some of the best preserved buildings in all of Paris. The entire Marais is not only of historic interest but there is FABulous shopping. (I get all my clothes in the Marais during the sales!)
