Amazing, unique experience
What an amazing, unique experience during our 10 night stay at the Hilltop Getaway. The views are amazing and the pictures are accurate. The queen bed was very comfortable. The yellow fold out couch was "ok," and we didn't use the cot. I was nervous that we wouldn't sleep well in the heat but we were lucky to have some windy nights, and the tent came equipt with a fan. I was super impressed with the power box. My husband sleeps with a CPAP and it was plenty powerful to keep that running all night, as well as charging our devices. Anita was a great host and was quick to reply with any questions we had. We let her know when we were getting low on water, and if the toilet needed emptying, and she took care of us. We aren't from the area so I was also nervous about what kinds of wildlife we may encounter. We saw lots of flies and red ants, a few lizards, and one jerboa. Nothing dangerous and nothing invaded the tent. A couple things to note: - This is not accessible by car. The dirt road is quite bumpy and we scraped the bottom of our Hyundai Santa Fe in certain spots along the road. I would recommend an SUV or pickup truck. - Parking is a decent walk to the tent site and it was a little difficult to get luggage down there. You will not be rolling suitcases down the dirt path. - The tent would be more comfortable with just two people. Our family of four (13 year old and 6 year old) were pretty cozy. We did just fine, but it was a tight fit especially since we packed for 4 people for 10 nights. - Because water supply is all brought in by the host and is limited, we used water sparingly and turned water off while soaping up in the shower. The hot water is really easy to use and works like a charm. - The tent heats up pretty early in the morning in the summer. We were up and ready to leave the site by 9:30 AM most days because of the heat. Overall we had a great stay. I would love to come back when the days are cooler to be able to enjoy some relaxing days on the property.
