My husband and I stayed at Calamity Cottage for a week in the summer, along with three other couples. It was wonderful. The home is absolutely beautiful with very quick and easy access to the ocean. The pictures truly do not do it justice! The location allows for a fairly short walk to shops and restaurants. I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking to vacation in the Bahamas!
2 Texas Families
We stayed @ Calamity Cottage for part of our stay & had a WONDERFUL experience!! The pictures on this website do NOT do it justice. C.C. is centrally located in Marsh Harbor not only for driving to the grocery store (Maxwells) & restaurants but also being on the canal makes access to several other islands a 15-45 boat ride to neighboring islands. C.C. has a nice size kitchen with dining table & bar, giving plenty of seating options. The kitchen was well equipped (coffee maker, blender, pots & pans). We made breakfast & dinners there ate lunches out. There is even a cute little outdoor covered patio with bar, & the dock had several chairs to sit outside & enjoy the sunset. We had 2 families & it met our needs. Master with a king size bed, guest bedroom with king size bed & connecting bathroom, children's room 2- twin beds with private bath, then there is another room that has private access with a queen bed & private bath. ALL bedrooms have connecting bathrooms. All bedrooms have t.v.'s nice for the teenagers. The decor of C.C. is very tasteful & inviting. It is very apparent that the owners spend a lot of their own time there & it is well maintained. This is the ideal place for people who want the convenience of what a home has to offer with the location being available to explore all of the Abaco islands. This was our first time to visit the Abaco's & we are planning to come back next summer. Here are just a few suggestions we will pass on to you:
Groceries are VERY EXPENSIVE!! Especially dry goods that can have a long shelf life. We brought 2 styrofoam coolers packed with frozen meat, cheese, bread, snacks, coffee etc. ( we even brought some detergent from home to do some laundry )
Secondly RENT a BOAT!!! our family had the BEST time EVER visiting the islands. ..
Hopetown- Sugar Shack-ice cream upstairs & Harborview for AWESOME Conch fingers & fish fingers & drinks. Fire Fly had good drinks too! The Lighthouse
Tilloo Banks to find sand dollars @ low tide. So amazing to find these!!
Tahiti Beach- good place just to hang out.
Man-O-War visit the sail shop & Penny the sea turtle. Also found the most starfish on the point . Just make sure to keep them in the water!
Guana Cay lunch & drinks @ Nippers.
Lubbers Quarters ate at Cracker P's-Caesar salad was really good.
We rented our boat from Rainbow Rentals- Tracy & Yvonne & took really good care of us. We will use them again!
C.C. was GREAT & would stay there again! Hope our review helps you!
