Eclectic Historic House
We were in town for a family wedding and were glad to find this charming home to call our own for 5 nights, instead of staying at a motel. Not everyone may appreciate the quirks of this home if they're used to a typical condo or hotel accommodation, but we love unusual homes especially when they have a history. Being on the main road made walking to local shops and restaurants convenient, though there was the occasional expected noise from traffic. We enjoyed reading up on the history of the area in the coffee table books provided and eating at local eateries. The owner responded quickly with questions or assistance.

Why they chose this property

The house is located on South Main and is within walking distance to Town Square. There you will find L & R Soda Fountain, an old-fashioned soda fountain, and cafe. Also within walking distance is a Mexican Restaurant, Subway, Old Town Grill, and Pizza.

Elkton is also part of one of the largest annual yard sales in the country.

In the fall, Todd County has the famous "smoking barns" and hay bale displays, along with the town's fall festival. If you visit around Halloween, you can pay a spooky visit to the Bell Witch Cave, located in Adams, Tenessee, which was featured on Ghost Hunters.

At Christmas time the community puts on a "Dicken's Christmas" in the square, complete with carolers dressed in Victorian garb and vendors to buy local goodies.

In the Spring, enjoy the beautiful weather and lovely hikes around Mammoth Cave, or go fishing in Lake Malone.

Around the fourth of July, Elkton puts on an impressive fireworks show complete with music.

What makes this property unique

A little over an hour away by car is Mammoth Cave, the largest cave system in the United States. 18 miles from I-24, and an hour's drive from Nashville. One hour from the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green. 24 miles from Clarksville, TN, and 20 miles from Hopkinsville, KY.
