We were very disappointed with the property and it took 5 days to negotiate our departure.
It seems this view is not shared by other reviewers on this page. Any delay in communication was caused by delays in the delivery of e-mail messages which were taking up to 2 days to arrive. The reasons for this are unknown.
Solana
We have just returned from our 10 day holiday at La Solana and the whole family, including the Grandparents had a great holiday. The pool was fantastic and the range of terraces meant you could lie in the sun or sit in the shade depending on how you felt. The air conditioning in the bedrooms was ideal for a good nights sleep.
We spent many mornings at Cala Agulla beach (we found 2 beach umbrellas in the laundry which we found very useful) which was great for the kids, but got very busy. The villa is in an ideal situation having beaches, restaurants and supermarkets a very short drive away.
La Solana is a must
When we arrarived at La Solana, it was late, so we were delighted to find milk, water and even, Champagne in the fridge! We had a really wonderful stay at this very spacious, comfortable and clean villa. What gave it a very nice feel, all the family possessions and photographs throughout the Villa giving a feeling of sharing their home. It is very well equipped. My family from the oldest 84 to baby 8 mnths thoroughly enjoyed all the facilities from the swimming pool to table tennis and just relaxing. A wonderful sandy cove 15 minutes walk along the road, but would say a car is a must. We stayed for 10 days, not long enough, we all wanted to stay longer, the time just flew by. We will be back!
16th to 23rd July 2011
The owner Tony provided excellent directions and additional information. Very clean, delighted previous occupiers left us a bottle of fizzy and water in the fridge - we did the same. The reality was better than the photos. Morning sunrise directly into the dining room, the terraces are well laid out for sunbathing throughout the day. The laundry room was well equipped and contained lilos, floats, water pistols and balls. The rear courtyard had a table tennis table. The hot weather of 30 degrees was no problem with frequent dips in the pool. The wireless broadband was most useful.
The best restaurant was La Fragua in the local town of Capdepera adjacent to the main square in Carrer del Pla d'en Cosset, an Argentinean Chef, cooking Argentinean beef steaks, most excellent! The wine description of having criminality was most intriguing. We returned twice during the week and were not disappointed.
A wonderful break which we hope to repeat.
Solana
A lovely villa in a quiet peaceful setting, gave s us loads of time to unwind and relax. The owner Tony did an excellent job with our booking handling it quickly, efficently and politely, we would definately return.
Fantastic
Have just returned from a great 10 day holiday with my family and a friends family. La solana was the ideal place to stay, peacefull and secluded and the pool was brilliant for two 8 year olds and a 5 year old. The villa was very clean and comfortable and we have already recommended it to our friends. I would say a car is a must if you want to explore the lovely beaches,we went to a different beach every day and they were all as nice as each other.
We have now found somewhere that we would return year after year and woudld highly recommend this property and this part of Majorca.
Map
A quiet area set among hills and pine woods with an extensive view of the bay of Cala Ratjada, a holiday resort and important fishing port. Enjoy a walk around the harbour & along the coast with a wide variety of craft shops & fine restaurants & bars to cater for all tastes.
Just 1km away is the ancient village of Capdepera topped by a castle which is floodlit at night. Here you will find more bars & restaurants & the old square-the heart of the village. A relaxing place to sit and people-watch. There is a busy Wednesday market here.
Elsewhere you will discover a good variety of beaches ranging from secluded coves to wide sandy bays. Something for everyone.
Bird-watchers and wild-life enthusiasts will appreciate the immediate environment of the house with hoopoes, bee-eaters, firecrests, and many other species as frequent visitors. There is also a resident 'gineta' (civit) on the hillside.
An excellent supermarket is within 1km.
Golf: Golf son servera (20 mins drive-9 holes)
A well established course, very pretty and only a few minutes from the sea. fairways tend to be narrow and are set among pine trees, with fast greens.
Further detailed information on each course is available on request
