Wonderful place to rest after epic mountain biking.
We just spent our 4th July weekend at Jay & Jennifer’s cozy & fabulous “Historic apartment on the Main Street". The weekend was filled with many memorable activities; epic mountain biking, swimming in the river, exploring the town and visiting several of the local restaurants just a few minutes by walking! Yes it's a small town =) but we felt that this apartment was centrally located to all of our favorite things. You MUST visit the relaxing wine/beer and food bar just downstairs the apartment! There were cool live musicians several of the nights that provided great entertainment well into the evening. Some of the skilled entertainers were also our hosts! Most other restaurants in town had a bit of a wait....not so at the wine bar!! It was a warm weekend and the apartment provided a great sanctuary when we wanted to escape the heat. The new A/C unit cranked out the cool air. The cute kitchen is very well set up and we easily cooked some meals with all the pots and pans they had available. The hosts were very easy to reach, very attentive and happy to tell you about all the local activities. Jay is an experienced fisherman and was eager to help my son and I(fishing noobs) get off to the right start. The linens were clean and all smelled very fresh, plenty of towels for the bathroom and the river. It was so nice to walk out on the deck, breath the mountain air and look out over the river and see what the locals were up too. Seriously one of the better views in town. We would love to come back again! You'll love the art on the walls too!

OUR TEAM
Meet the folks behind the River Loft
About Sonya

Sonya enjoys hiking and multi-day wilderness trekking adventures. Before moving to Downieville, she enjoyed spending time raising animals and growing food on her rural Southern California property. In SoCal, she longed for the sounds of the rushing river, the changing colors and smells of the seasons, and the close knit community she knew she wanted to be a part of. She found all of this and more in Downieville!

About Michael

Mike enjoys wilderness trekking, mountain biking, fly fishing, and is our jack of all trades. Prior to living in Downieville, he also enjoyed growing avocados on the couple’s two-acre ranch in Southern California. He longed for a place he could ride or hike out of his backdoor to commune with nature. When he's not managing the property Mike is out exploring the waterways, lakes, and trails in Sierra County.

You will often find both Mike and Sonya enjoying Downieville with their dogs, Sprocket (pictured) and the newest addition to the Carriage House team, Torvi.
