About this property

Silver Lake IN cottage sleeps 9. Two full baths. Water sports, games, and movies

Silver Lake is a quiet 112 acres with Large Mouth Bass, bluegills, crappies, and perch, with a channel connecting it to undeveloped North Little's 10 acres. In North Little, you can anchor and relax by listening to the various birds singing.
The lakes have a 10 MPH speed limit, so you are not threatened with noisy, speeding boats. A boat ramp and dock are on the property.
We have four kayaks, a paddle boat, floaties, and pool noodles for fun in the water. The water is 2 feet deep at the seawall and tapers to 6 feet at the end of the 30' dock.
We have a 24' pontoon boat available to rent for $100 per day of usage. Gas is included in the rental price. The boat is tied up to our dock.
Our 16'X20' deck faces the lake with eight chairs, a hammock, a grill, and a table.
Your lodging is a rustic, knotty pine, 1 1/2-story lakefront cottage. Your entire family will enjoy the indoor and outdoor games and activities, watching a family of Mute Swans swim by, our resident Bald Eagles hunt, our nesting Purple Martins dart and soar hunting bugs, or just sitting around enjoying nature.

Silver Lake was a wonderful choice for our family. Waterfront without the summer traffic and crowds. The nostalgic house had everything that we needed.

Weekend Getaway
Loved our stay! Wish we would have stayed longer. The property was very clean and rustic. The neighbors were super friendly. The only small thing we wished we had was the solar lights outside to have worked. But overall our stay was great! They had everything from bathroom essentials to kitchenware and outdoors games.

About the host

Hosted by Bob Benjamin

Host profile image
Bob and Marcia bought the cottage in 1992. The old bathroom dropped off when we jacked up the cottage two feet; therefore, we now have two full bathrooms. Marcia likes to use the hammock and read on the deck. Bob also likes to read, but he prefers to fish for bluegills using worms and 20-foot fiberglass poles. The kids and grandkids like to kayak, ride the pontoon boat, and play indoor and outdoor games.
We plan to treat you like we want to be treated. We always strive for a five-star review.

Why they chose this property

You and your family and friends can spend many enjoyable hours and days at the cottage. There are water activities, outdoor games, indoor games, puzzles, and over 74 in-house movies to view. Like to read? You have over 191 books to curl up with. You are just a few feet from the water for fishing and swimming.
There are many activities and games for children and adults, whether the sun is up or down, regardless of the weather. For some fun on the water, you can take out our paddle boat or our four kayaks. Do you just want to laze around on the water? We have seven pool floaties and some pool noodles. For a separate fee of $100 per day USED, you can rent our 9-passenger pontoon boat that comes with free gas. There is a separate operations manual for the boat. The rental period is customizable.
Want to bring your own fishing boat? You can launch your boat from our boat ramp and tie it up to our 30' dock. (Please let me know if you are bringing your own boat.)
We usually get a free fireworks show on July 3, 4, and 5 from our neighbors and others. The show begins around sundown and ends around 11:30. We are treated to rockets, aerial bombs, colorful displays, and other assorted devices. The view can be from our deck (good), our boat tied to the dock (better), or in the middle of the lake (best.) We have no control over the weather, or the selection of fireworks fired if you decide to rent those days.
In the winter, once the ice is thick enough, you can go ice skating or ice fishing. Afterward, you can go into the cottage for some hot chocolate while talking about the big fish that got away! (In the back of the Instruction 3-ring binder, it tells the story of the 11-hour battle in 1956 with some unknown creature. Maybe you will be fortunate enough to catch it.)

What makes this property unique

You can watch our resident Bald Eagles soaring overhead or diving into the water while catching a fish, or take the binoculars to the west side of the lake to look at the young eagles in their nest. Wrens and Purple Martins nest in front of the cottage. It is relaxing without a lot of noise from boats racing around the lake.

Have some local questions or a problem? Ask one of our very friendly neighbors. Our guests often make very favorable comments about our neighbors.
