Why James Ulmer (Owner), Maria Flores (Property Manager) chose Mar Vista
A TERRIFIC AREA where the traffic and parking is not nearly as congested and stressful as at the beach traffic yet is only minutes away from the ocean. We're also right amongst the cafes, cinemas, boutiques and shopping of the wonderful West side. A great location in what is already a world-class 'destination location.' Lovely backyard and patio, too!
What makes this Cottage unique
Complementary use of our bikes to ride to the beach or explore the neighborhood -- or simply take the beach bus on the corner. Peaceful and quiet backyard terra-cotta patio (with charcoal BBQ) framed by bougainvillea and fountains looking out onto our lovely backyard garden and fruit trees. Complementary high-speed (6 megabyte) internet & Wi-Fi & cable HDTV. During your home orientation when you arrive, James can also serve as your 'virtual concierge' to help you plan your stay in LA.
100% refund if cancelled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Quaint cottage stay
Loved the cottage, just didn’t care for parking on the street with all that traffic. My car and two others got side swiped first night there.
Wonderful port in a storm.
This was a place to stay while our house was being termite tented. It’s a nice little place, very well planned for such a small space. I would have preferred cushier chairs (we didn’t go out, just sat and caught up on reading) but for most the wicker will be just fine. There were sufficient pots, pans, dishes and glasses for cooking while there. My only suggestion there is that knives should be sharpened occasionally or a knife sharpener added. Overall it was a very pleasant stay. I would recommend it to friends or family, or anyone else looking for somewhere to stay while on vacation.
Heaven in LA!
Here for 8 days and LOVED every minute of it. It’s tucked back from the road and it’s so peaceful! The people who live in the front house are kind, respectful and the only noise I ever heard were happy sounds! The little apartment had absolutely everything I needed. There is a fantastic store called Rainbow Acres within walking distance that has amazing food! Whether you want to grab a salad to take with you for lunch or looking for a yummy dessert.
Also very important... The bed is super comfortable! When I would come home in the evening I would open the back door so that I could see the beautiful orange tree and the cute yard. I truly can’t say enough good about this little VRBO. If you don’t want to have the hassle of driving and parking you can catch a Lyft or Uber to go everywhere. And there’s a bus right at the corner that will take you straight down to the beach. Do yourself a favor skip the hotel hang out in this little piece of heaven on earth!
Not handicapped accessible, as presented. DO NOT rent if you are handicapped!
Pretty little place, nice location, lovely little garden.
Some issues with lighting not working. And that a/c electric hook-up is probably a code violation!!
But for folks with physical disabilities, I cannot recommend. Though VRBO says it's handicapped accessible, it is absolutely NOT! No handicapped parking available anywhere - in fact, the parking for the main house (which the cottage was not allowed to use except to load/unload) is directly outside of the front door!! Quite a bit if door shutting, etc. Not slamming or unnecessary noise, just right outside the front door, which is close to the bed, so noisy inside the cottage.
The bathroom is not accessible, no hand rails/holds anywhere, and a small glassed-in shower that was difficult for us older and only moderately disabled folks. And no washcloths supplied, lol!! Towels yes, washcloths no - go figure
If this place had not been shown as handicapped accessible, I would have given it double the stars, four instead if two. It really wasn't a bad little place in and of itself. But because it was so BADLY misrepresented, I cannot give it more than two.
This is a cute little cottage behind a main house. There’s a nice garden to enjoy in the back which, unfortunately, we were unable to enjoy due to rain. The owner and property manager are very helpful. We have a son and family in this area so it was ideal for us!
Used the buses a lot. Coffee shop was very good (can’t remember name).
HOURS OF FUN IS JUST MINUTES AWAY! We’re located on a treed residential street on the fabulous West side of Los Angeles, in the area of Mar Vista where where Santa Monica, Venice, Marina del Rey and Culver City all meet...
From our lovely 2-bedroom home it's just 5 minutes to the freeways, 6 minutes to the famous Venice Beach and Venice Canals, and 8 minutes to the Santa Monica Pier and Santa Monica promenade.
Top-flight restaurants, cinemas, supermarkets, golf course, parks and the Abbott Kinney antique shops are only 4-minutes away.
And if you drive down our cross street (passing a convenient supermarket and Costco shopping center) you'll arrive at the fabulous beaches of Santa Monica and Venice in less time than it takes to stroll around the block.
