Are your vacations getting too touristy? Are the all-inclusive resorts starting to all feel the same? Do you want to experience daily life in an authentic coastal community? How about immersing your family into a new culture while still having the security and amenities you are accustomed to? If one day you decide that you want to feel like a tourist again, do you want to be within traveling distance of some great options? Then this is your next vacation.

Tucked along the Caribbean Sea at the northern most part of Belize, Corozal is a dusty, beautiful town of 10,000 Belizeans. Life here is a constant reminder of hard work, family, and the struggle to survive. Corozal will grab at your soul as you fall in love with the sights, smells, tastes, and people of this seaside community.

A quick fifteen minute drive north takes you over the border into Chetumal Mexico which boasts a bustling city with plenty of modern conveniences and lots to do!

If this still isn't enough, Corozal has water taxis and an airstrip that can send you and your family anywhere in Belize (additional fees per person). Taking a flight is as easy as showing up and telling them where you want to go. There are flights going up and down the beautiful coast of Belize all day long. The adventure is in deciding what to do next.

As you think about what to do (even if you choose to do nothing at all), rest easy knowing that you are safe and secure in one of the best Expat communities in Central America. Consejo Shores offers fiber internet, community parks with water access, a community library, an on-site sales office, and even a small golf course. This lovely community is located within the sleepy village of Consejo, which offers 3 local restaurants and a small convenience store as well. If you are looking for more restaurants or grocery options, those can be found just a short distance down the dusty road to Corozal Town.

Our home is furnished with all the kitchen amenities you would expect, smart tv’s, new AC’s in each bedroom, high thread count linens, pool toys, games, nerf guns, fishing gear, bikes, and 2 paddleboards (each also have attachable seats for those that don’t like to mix too much exercise with their vacations). So what are you waiting for? Book your stay today!

3 Colorado Generations Retreat in Belize
VRBO impressed us. Easy to use, their site’s pictures, descriptions, & reviews were great. Feedback goes directly to VRBO & helps maintain accountability. In spite of our many changes mostly precipitated by the airlines, our homeowner was remarkably accommodating. Disrupted Christmas travel plans delayed our arrival a week, half of our planned Belize time. Their home is about 90 miles north, an interesting 3 1/2 hour drive. Roads were good, but lots of construction extended our travel time. The home accommodated the 8 of us. In a secluded neighborhood with similar, lovely homes on spacious & well cared for yards, an ex-pat, Linda, represents the owner. She, too, was a good source for more recommendations. Their screened-in porch on the roof was a favorite gathering spot. Overlooking the swimming pool & toward the coast, it has comfortable chairs & hammocks. A similar large porch is on the ground level. The locals who maintained the pool & groomed the yard were pleasant, as were all we met while shopping, eating out, taking walks, sightseeing, etc. Bikes & other “get-away” items are in a storage unit. We felt safe our entire trip, never approached by a concerning person. My wife & I were content with our quiet, clean, secluded location with nearby access to walks along the coast. Not far were “mom and pop” shops & restaurants. Their food, served by affable staff, was varied & excellent . We had no concern about cleanliness. Nor, were any locals frenetically obsessed about COVID. Our grandkids other grandmother lives near a sandy beach on the East Coast. So, beach-time, for them, is a priority. Our shoreline was mostly low rock wall. Sandy beaches are accessible by highway north & south, & water taxis commute to nearby islands. The airline issues were frustrating & wasted a lot of our time. But, our getaway was unforgettable—3 generations with uninterrupted conversations sharing experiences, hopes, dreams, concerns, & one another’s views on this life—past, present, and future. We prioritize respites, like this, to soak up everyone’s presence together & provide opportunities to consider & discuss important topics like the meaning & purpose of life including its Basic Issues : “Where did I come from?, Why am I here?, & Where am I going?” With blessings for all of you and your loved ones, Jim and Barb + Ingrid, Grace, Thor, Caleb, Ryan, & Zane.

Hi Tavelers,

My name is Dan. My wife Jami and I have been developing properties for 20 years. We love traveling internationally with our kids. The more we travel the more I believe we learn compassion, understanding, gratitude, and love. It's a big world. Get off the beaten path and away from the resort buffets. Travel down a dusty road and meet a local. We are all the same people. We all have stories to share. We are all here for such a very short time. Live with purpose and passion everyday.

Why they chose this property

When our leaders tried to tell us that we were all better off isolating from each other, we couldn't have disagreed more. We need travel. We need meaningful memories. We need each other. People need people. That is why we named this vacation home "Better Together." We hope you come to love it as much as we have. Life is Better Together in Beautiful Belize!

We bought this property for the security of the neighborhood. Consejo Shores is a well established expat community with fiber internet, a small 9 hole golf course, multiple parks with water access, a community library, and wonderful neighbors. You will love it.

What makes this property unique

This home is NOT in a touristy area. It's quiet, calm, and in all honesty... fairly dead. Our home is filled with things to keep you occupied, but if nightlife is what you crave, you will need to drive 10 minutes south to the coastal community of Corozal (pop 10,000). Chetumal Mexico (pop 300,000) is 20 minutes north with everything you may desire as well. Water taxis and small airplanes leave daily to take you out to Belize's beautiful Cayes for snorkeling and diving for additional fees. You can also drive inland for excursions and to visit the many cultural sites. Think of this property as a home base for your adventures.
