About this property

Best of Suquet - Near old port-Steps to Palais

We want you to have the opportunity to experience the life style we love! Frequent travelers ourselves, we take great pride in accommodating our guests. Decorated to be a wonderful secluded and cost effective alternative to hotel living, our unique two room studio has a separate kitchen and bedroom with closed door access to provide for both your privacy and comfort.

Located in a 19th century building, we have furnished it with all the updates for modern living including modern kitchen, microwave, bath with bidet, TV, WIFI internet access and clothes washer/dryer. Overlooking the sea, the apartment is perfectly nestled in the heart of the Suquet at the intersection of Rue Meynadier and Rue St Antoinne. Located just a half block from the classic sailing and motor yachts of the old port, and only minutes from the Palais des Festivals, casino, and Cannes' sandy beaches, the best of Cannes awaits you.

To help orient you and provide you with a care free and pleasant stay, our personal representative will be available to assist you throughout your visit. She will meet you when you arrive, escort you to your apartment and help guide you through the essentials. Additionally, upon booking we will provide you with some further information regarding Cannes, the local environs, our favorite sites to see and some good local restaurant recommendations.

If you're like us, you'll fall in love with Le Suquet, Cannes' charming 12th century quarter. The Suquet is very popular within Europe and as a result, every language is spoken in this delightful and charming quarter of the city. Throw open your shutters to greet the rising sun over the hills in the east. Your view to the south is of luxury yachts moored on the shimmering Mediterranean Sea. Meander narrow cobblestoned pedestrian streets lined with the finest of Cannes' outdoor restaurants, to the top of the Suquet for an incomparable view of the city and the sea. Once there, visit the romanesque Chapelle Sainte-Anne and Musee de la Castre, dating from the 12th/13th centuries.

From our apartment, walk one block to the daily outdoor market, Marche Forville (considered one of the best in France). Buy your bread from one of the Suquet's fabulous boulangeries where they insist on maintaining the ancient art of baking. Walk to the port for a 10 minute boat ride to the Lerin Islands to visit either Isle Sainte-Marguerite or Isle Sainte-Honorat. The Royal Fort on Isle Sainte-Marguerite contains the prison which housed The Man in the Iron Mask. The monastery on Isle Sainte-Honorat was once the home of Saint Patrick and an active monastery today. Shopping your interest? You are steps from the rue Meynadier and the chic rue d'Antibes and the Croisette. No need for a car but if you prefer to drive to the countryside, rentals are available within a block of the apartment as well as public parking garages. Buses to the airport and the train station is eight blocks away.

Perfect location!
This was my first time using an apartment rental approach for my vacation. I am a complete convert! Especially when having such a positive experience with the apartment, the location and the owners. Everything went smoothly. Barbara and John are very efficient with responding quickly. Their property manager, Nicolas, was very accommodating and patient with my last second information for when I would exactly be arriving. The apartment is in the most convenient and beautiful location - on 'Le Suquet' which is near to everything - great restaurants, marketplace, the Palais, waterfront, Cannes festival, casino, bus and train station, etc. The apartment was small but completely sufficient for up to 3 people (a couple sharing bed and a single person on the couch/bed). Apartment had small kitchen with all the necessary basic equipment and supplies. It was all so quaint and lovely!! And there was Wi-Fi in the apartment which was perfect! I'm sure the tv worked but who had time to watch tv??! Not us! There are no "lift" but apartment only on 3rd floor. Not a big deal. You have to get use to walking everywhere and up a lot of stairs when traveling through Europe. So this was no issue for me or my son. Have a great time in this location and Cannes if you decide to rent this place. I give it my highest recommendation!

An Absolute Gem of a Rental in the Best area in Cannes! (The Suquet). Loved It!
I just traveled to Cannes for a week to attend an advertising festival and was fortunate enough to book this wonderful and brilliantly located apartment that John Lo Bue and his wife Barbara own (I never have met John and Barbara but I feel like I got to know them during the course of making my rental arrangements). The Suquet, the 12th century historical area that this apartment is located in is the prettiest area in Cannes---so photogenic that the folks walking around are constantly taking pictures of its beautiful buildings on cobblelined streets. And starting just steps from the front door of the apartment, there is an abundance of great restaurants and outdoor cafes. Over the years, I have read many folks descriptions about how “close” key locations are to their home or apartment or hotel and so many are inaccurate, but if you haven’t been to Cannes before, this apartment is truly just half a block to the marina and four/five minutes to the Palais des Festivals if you walk, and another five minute walk to the Carlton. A number of my colleagues booked rooms in villas to attend the festival, and I visited many of their villas, but with one exception, I was thrilled that I didn’t take up their offer to stay in their villas as this apartment is in the midst of such a charming and historical area, and I was walking distance from the places I needed to be. And by staying here I also didn’t have to worry about driving down from a villa and finding a parking space, or waiting for a taxi. Furthermore, when I was lazy or late for an event there was a taxi stand just one minute from the apartment (and the airport bus drops you within a two-minute walk of their front door). And the other great thing was that half the dinners my colleagues and I went to---were booked within two blocks of the apartment as everyone wanted to be eat in the historical area where the apartment is located as the restaurants are amongst the best in the city. Another bonus is that this apartment is also just 1 block from the huge open-air market, March Forville, an amazing place to buy fruit, cheese, meats, and breads six days a week (the fruits, meats and cheeses sold there were just what you would order up if you could make a wish for a fantasy French outdoor market). And the local city hall is just a block away, and we loved watching the weddings that were scheduled there almost every half hour on the weekends---for when the wedding is over---the wedding party comes out of the

John LoBue and Barbara Farhner have been together since 1998. Barbara retired from Siemens in 2001; John retired from the City of San Jose, California in 2002. Since Johns' retirement, we've been together 7x24 and pursuing our mutual dreams. We know few couples so well matched. We travel 9 to 10 months a year and never tire of it.

Why they chose this property

We love the European lifestyle, especially the wine and food in France. Each day we enjoy a 2 hour lunch, planning our 4 hour dinner. Cannes is a great European destination. It's ancient; it's modern; it's lively year-round; it's loaded with wonderful entertainment venues; it's on the water; it's central to the French AND Italian Rivieras. The weather is gorgeous and the beaches are nearby. Cannes is a city perfectly suited to both business and pleasure!

What makes this property unique

Cannes is quirky and wonderful. You can shop until you drop at the upscale designer stores or find bargains in the weekly open-air antiques market. We often picnic or hike on the Lehren islands which are 10 minutes away by ferry. We never tire of sightseeing in ancient walled cities like Eze, St. Paul de Vence or Haute de Cagnes. The outdoor market, argueably the largest in France, is just around the corner. The French eat FRESH every day and so do we.
