About Abbey Rose
Griff and I live in the main house at Abbeys and take pride in our properties. Because we live there also, we can be more responsive to any of our guest's needs – from key exchanges to cleaning, to repairs, and anything in between. This is a beautiful Suite and is fully furnished and have all the amenities of home combined with the beauty of that “up north” experience.
Abbey Rose purchased this Apartment in 2003
Why Abbey Rose chose Charlevoix
I used to spend 2 to 3 weeks a year when my children were younger and still living with me up here in Charlevoix the Beautiful. We would rent a cottage in the summer for several weeks and then again in the fall for a week or so. I fell in love with this place so when I retired I decided that I would like to be here full time. Built a great log home in the northern woods and never looked back!
What makes this Apartment unique
Being just a few mile outside of the town of Charlevoix, I believe that this gorgeous northern Michigan setting that Abbeys is located at - the look of the open meadows and woods and the smell of evergreens, you too will feel that you have enjoyed the true "up north" experience at its finest.

Clean and cozy
We were extremely pleased with this entire rental experience. Our place was perfectly provisioned, quiet and peaceful. We will definitely be returning!
Clean and comfortable
Off-the-beaten-path but close to all attractions, comfortable bedding, good wi-fi, enjoyable hot tub and a kitchen well stocked with dishes, pots, pans, mixers, toaster, etc... Easy communication with property owner. Quiet, wooded setting. We found it the perfect home base for our 3 day trip exploring Michigan's west side. Easy to recommend.
Thank you Amy and Joanie for staying with us. You were the kind of guests that Vacation Rental Hosts hope for. Gods blessings. Abbey <(((><
So relaxing and peaceful
A great place to come back to after enjoying the activities of the area during the day.
Griff and I enjoyed hosting you and Susan. You are a delightful couple. If you ever find yourself in our neck of the woods, we would love to serve you again. Gods blessings. <(((><
Quiet peaceful get away
Nice place to stay away from commotion but close enough to downtown Charlevoix. Very friendly, gracious host.
Thank you Stephanie. We really enjoyed hosting you and Phil. We hope that if you are ever back in our neck of the woods that you will stay with us again! Gods blessings. <(((><
Though it rained many of the days of our stay, it was a delightful little get-away. The town of Charlevoix is such a pretty town and has lots to offer. As well, it is close to many other charming little lakeside towns. Abby Rose was a great home base for us just a few miles outside of town. The apartment has a peaceful outdoor space with very tall pine trees, hot tub, bbq grill, and seating. We enjoyed short walks into the wooded area adjoining the apartment's outdoor space. Comfortable beds and apartment. Abby and Griff were very oblilging and friendly hosts.
The unit is nice but needs a super deep cleaning. New sheets & towels are also direly needed.
Neither of the doors to the screened porch would latch therefore the screened area was full of mosquitos.
The sheets on one of the beds had long, dark hairs all over. Neither of us have long or dark hair. We slept in the other bed.
The oven door had a cracked glass window on the inside. It could very easily fall into anything in the oven. The microwave door was melted and had a hole. The inside of the microwave had not been cleaned in a very long time.
We did open the hot tub to use it but the chemical, bleach smell was overwhelming. Needless to say, we were extremely disappointed and left a day early.
Dear Cathy and Russ,
With an average of 4.8 stars from HomeAway, VRBO and AirBnb for the last year, you can imagine how shocked we were that you felt it necessary to rate us so low.
In both written and oral comments to our guests - we consistently stress the request to let us know if you have any issues as we really strive to please. Unless our guests bring a problem to our attention, we have no idea that there is an issue.
One gal that is a part of our housekeeping team does have long dark hair, who has assured me that from now she will be securing her hair up to prohibit this from happening again.
At this moment we have a guest in the Executive Suite, but it is our intention to check on the oven door and microwave oven once they depart.
Regarding the Hot Tub. Chlorine is the best and safest way to keep the Hot Tub clean and sanitary for our guests. When removing the cover from the Hot Tub, it is not uncommon to smell the chlorine for a minute or so. I am sorry. I guess I should have explained that to you.
Griff and I are so pleased that Russ has regained his health and that we decided to accommodate the rescheduling of your vacation rather than you just losing your rental fee.
Needless to say, we were extremely saddened that after all of the efforts to help you get back on the schedule you ended up being disappointed and that you left a day early.
Gods blessings to you and your husband.
