Wonderful. Cozy for the adults and kids. Perfect location to hit multiple lakes for ice fishing. Even got pike and perch out of Long Lake. Beautiful yard and view of the lake
Nice and clean.
Another great trip to The Landing!
This is our third time here and we always have a great time! The home is always clean, well stocked, with plenty of things to do when in the home (DVDs, games for the kids, etc..). Hard to describe but the home just feels loved, as everything is so well organized, and just feels fresh. The location is right next to the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore, so there is more to do than there is time to do it. With great beaches, hiking trails, scenic overlooks, river tubing, on, and on, we never want to leave. The waterfront at the the home is totally unique as well. It is a couple of minutes walk down the trail to what looks like your own private sandy beach park! During our summer trip, the water temp was perfect and the lake was clean and peaceful. The pontoon boat and kayaks were great as well! The kids loved camping the night down at the beach area in their hammocks. During the fall this year it was just the two of us and our stay was very cozy and colorful. Great fall colors at Sleeping Bear, and cozy restaurants in Frankfort. Frankfort is a great little down about ten minutes away for restaurants etc… Great memories, plan on coming back next year!
It was nice
The pictures are very accurate of the cottage. The driveway is VERY curvy and steep. This is noted in the description of the property. We stayed the week between Christmas and New Year. We were fortunate to only have a little snow to deal with otherwise I'm not sure how that would have panned out. We were left plenty of salt for the driveway which we were thankful for. There is no WIFI, didn't realize that until we were there and asked for the password. There is VERY minimal bake ware. Virtually only a few baking sheets that were really something I would throw out at home. I had to go out and buy 2 pie pans and a cake pan. There is a walk to the lakefront. At least a minute or 2, but worth it. In the Summer I can see how it would be quite pleasant to spend some time down there. This is definitely a "Rental Unit". There were a lot of "Do's and Don'ts" posted every where which did not lean to a very homey feel for the place. We enjoyed ourselves but we probably will not be back.
Kristina, thanks for the four star review, you're welcome back anytime!
To address a few issues in the review: Yes, our driveway does go up the hill and is curvy. Nothing to worry about though, as we keep the driveway maintained every snowfall. Also we don't have Wi-Fi because there are no companies offering unlimited internet service in the area. We do not advertise having Wi-Fi for this reason. Concerning the baking pans, we do try to keep up, as we do replace things often. Best thing to do is, If you have some special things you want to cook feel free to contact us beforehand or during your stay. If you need something, and it’s something we normally have in the home, such as baking pans, we’ll be sure that you have what you need.
In regards to the home feeling unwelcome: The do's and don'ts mentioned are there for exactly the opposite. They are mainly instructions on how to, work the television, light the fireplace, work the thermostat, who to call for repairs, use the Playstation, etc.… We also have an information book with where to buy groceries, favorite restaurants, beaches, things to do, and complete maps of the area. There is a sign explaining the trash situation, and one dealing with quite times, both were things the neighbors asked we post in the home.
The purpose of these things is to help people quickly familiarize themselves with being in a new environment. That way they can get on with enjoying their stay instead of spending hours in frustration trying to figure things out. We used to hear from guests being frustrated they couldn't get our television to work, or the fireplace to light, etc.… Since we have put these instructions in the home 10 years ago, we no longer hear those things. Please do not take any of these things as being unwelcoming as they are meant to be exactly the opposite.
House worked out perfectly for our family.
Lovely home on a beautiful lake
Our family stayed on the Landing on Long Lake for a week and had a wonderful time. The house is better than the photos; very clean with beautiful wood throughout. One of the best parts of this cottage was the pontoon included with the price, as well as kayaks. We spent a lot of time cooking our own meals, playing games, watching movies, enjoying bonfires, riding on the pontoon and riding bikes. The beach is a short walk from the house (down a hill) and there's a lot to see and do in the area (Frankfort beach was our favorite- only 15 minutes away). Overall, we loved our time there and I'd highly recommend staying here. =)
