Misrepresented and run down
First of all, we have been staying in Port St Joe for many years and I’ve never had to leave a bad review until now. This house was very run down. The downstairs smelled like a musty basement, the bathrooms had leaking faucets, very loud plumbing, and the bedrooms had really squeaky beds. The bunk beds are very unsafe for any child to sleep on the top bunk.
Prior to our arrival, we received communication that the pool wouldn’t be completed for our stay. Considering we didn’t even know about a potential pool, we were fine with it not being done and we were assured no construction would be going on during our stay. As soon as we arrived, construction trucks were blocking the driveway with workers working on this property and both properties on either side. It was loud and disrupting. The pathway to the beach was blocked by fencing. We communicated this to the property manager, and while construction was stopped at this property, it continued on the others. The temporary fencing around the pool was in the way and we had to walk around construction materials. They definitely shouldn’t have rented this or the surrounding properties during this construction. It was very intrusive.
I would stay far away from this property. Not only because of the many maintenance issues listed above, but when we arrived at a house that was misrepresented by having active construction going on, we were not offered any sort of compensation.
