This location is really off the beaten path, several miles down a gravel road. When we arrived, there were very strong winds and our host was kind enough to allow us to stay in an empty room rather than try to set up our tent. Unfortunately, the shower wasn´t available due to their recent loss of a lot of fresh water because of a freeze event. We were able to plug in our cooler, although the host was concerned about how much electricity it was drawing since their solar system hadn´t been very efficient that day due to cloudy skies.

Beautiful and Remote
This was a beautiful place to camp. The night sky is absolutely amazing, and there is no better experience than staring at the sky next to a campfire. We had a great experience, and our hosts were excellent and responsive. Be warned: The hosts send an accurate introductory email that tells you to follow their directions to the property and not use a web app. FOLLOW THEIR DIRECTIONS! Also, if you are heading out to their spot, you need to make sure you have adequate camping gear that you have used before - this is not the place to find out that you don't have enough water or don't know how to pitch your tent.

Hiding Place
If you want to get away from the daily stress and the crowds of cities with just nature around you, this is the place to be. But if you like comfort and room service, this is not for you.

Smiling Dog
Awesome place. Excellent dirt road into the property, just make sure to follow the turn by turn directions you get from the host. Plenty of room to explore and roam. VERY REMOTE and beautiful desert landscape. There is a pit toilet in the lower campground and a bathroom/shower at the upper campground, hot and cold water in the shower. Outdoor community kitchen with a small fridge if you need it and a propane stove. Owners are very nice people, very laid back and accommodating. Stargazing is awesome here. Location is great, close to national park, state park, Terlingua and Lajitas. Highly recommend this spot if you want to get off grid and relax.
