Book Club Retreat
Overall we had a nice time. Bwe are a group of 8 adult women who had a book club retreat. The main living room provided care mfortable seating for all of us and there were some fun little books in which to read, too. There were bes for everyone, but the bunks would have been better for a younger crowd.
We had two primary frustrations during our weekend. First, parking. We were coming from different locations, so we were not able to carpool. We needed more parking than just the driveway and the garage driveway across the street. We had runins with several very angry neighbors about vehicles parked on the road. We were threatened with a call to the police even before we had a chance to check with the owners about where we could park. Unnecessary anger kind of ruined the first night.
Secondly, there were some cleanliness/housekeeping issues. There were dead flies all over the house, including in the bedding. It's that time of year, but, clearly bedding had not been checked for quite some time. One bed had 14 flies in it. There was dog hair on every couch. Lots of it. Clumps of it.
We made dinner in a pretty well equipped kitchen. But, we couldn't do the dishes in the dishwasher because there were no pods like we had been told to use. We did reach out and ask for some, but they were never dropped off.
There was very little in the way of communication from the owners. We expected a binder or book with check out instructions, area information.
