The VRBO listing as it was when we rented didn't show the cabin is actually Harry Potter themed! We thought we were going for a relaxing stay in the woods and being Potter fans ourselves were overjoyed by the surprise. We haven't laughed that hard in years. Great place, you should go. Just bring your wands.

Liked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
Nice cabin good location
The decor was fun & interesting and not over done. We are not Harry Potter people. The property was well appointed. Excellent fire pit & seating. You do need to buy firewood on the way in. There are several road side self service boxes. Also be sure to ask for the door code a bit early. All in all we highly recommend this cabin.
We stayed two nights in this cabin (Friday and Saturday). Prior to our arrival, I received a message saying that the original listing I booked was not the updated listing and that they had transformed the cabin into a Harry Potter themed cabin. Unfortunately, we are not Harry Potter people but the cabin was adorned with so many Harry Potter details and surprises. Our girls actually loved the detailed touches, despite not being fans.
The property is beautiful, as is the cabin. However, while the owners so meticulously decorated in Harry Potter theme, some standard 'house' items were missing--hand towels for the kitchen, hooks for towels, places to put toiletries in the bathrooms, shelving, etc. Additionally, at least twice a day, the water would suddenly shut off and stay off for up to 20 minutes. When I messaged the owners about this problem through VRBO, I never received an answer and there was no contact information listed anywhere. Finally, one of the 'rooms/beds' is actually a mattress in a closet.
Despite these random things, the cabin fit our needs--it was close to all the Hocking Hills activities and the property was beautiful.
The property is located in a great area close to town with wonderful cabin feel and smell that you love. The issue with the cabin is related to the owner’s main priority of saving money and not the guest experience.
If you would like access to a washer and dryer for the week, you are out of luck because it is locked behind a door and one set of towels for the week of well water. Same for dish washer they do NOT have one. All dishes needed to be washed before use.
Main living area has one couch, left us 5 sitting table to watch movie.
The hot tub (a big deal for autistic son to “swim” on vacation!) that had a thick ring of grim around the water edge and yellow water. We know about hard water in country 10y going to HH.
After multiple calls to owner she texted back to inform that her cleaning lady “had covid and had been hospitalized”. So no hot tub service, She came the next day and cleaned it out around 3pm but did not have the proper chemicals to treat the metals/yellow water color because they had to be ordered. She asked if I was happy with the resolution, I told No and she offered to refund a portion of the price for a positive review. I declined as the money was not the issue it was the experience. I went got the chemicals and fixed yellow water myself that day. Again probably cost more for her.
There are many options in HH so just find a place that people enjoy hosting folks and not one that in her words “b/w property taxes and expensive they aren’t making any money”
We had such a great time staying here for the weekend! The rooms were nice and spacious and the cabin had everything we needed! Beautiful views and a great hot tub!
Property was clean and tastefully decorated. Lots of outdoor space...3 decks! My kids loved the ax throwing game and porch swing. We stayed for 2 weeks (family of 7) Any time we had a question comment or issue, the owners responded within the hour and took care of it. Would recommend.
