About this property

Lone Star Lodge is a 4-bedroom/4-bathroom house that includes private access to the Frio River. The property has a long porch that spans the entire length of the house. There are rocking chairs and a picnic table with ceiling fans on the porch that overlooks the large front yard that has many mature oak trees, a swing that seats two and a fire pit. This property also has an outdoor BBQ pavilion with a sink, tables, chairs, BBQ pit and a nearby outdoor restroom.
The house itself has a large kitchen with a curved bar Centerpiece that seats 9 guests. The kitchen’s stainless-steel sink is incorporated in the bar area while the stove top and oven are on an island of their own in the middle of the kitchen. This peaceful kitchen retreat is stocked with everything you need to prepare a meal or BBQ including a crock-pot and food processor. The kitchen area also includes two types of coffee pots: a Keurig and a drip coffee pot. Located near the kitchen is a full-sized, stacked washer and dryer. Laundry soap and dryer accessories are not included. The living room has 2 couches and an ottoman.
Each of the 4 bedrooms has its own bathroom. Three of these bedrooms have a queen bed and twin bunk beds. The fourth bedroom has a single queen bed. The bathrooms in the front two bedrooms each have a combination tub/shower. The remaining two bathrooms are built with showers.
Linens are not included with this property. You must bring your own sheets, pillows, blankets and towels for the kitchen, bathrooms, and river.

Spring Break 2024

House is great! Each bedroom with its own bathroom is so ideal! Property is beautiful! It is NOT located where is shows on the map. Neighborhood is under development with ranch roads off of CR 350. Booked thru VRBO-didn't receive check in info, had to call. But the Frio Acres staff was AWESOME and even called to verify all was good! We would stay there again, just know where you are and if that is OK with your plans.

Great secluded cabin

We enjoyed our stay. It should be noted that access to the river from the back cabin is a considerable distance, especially with kids and gear. The cabin for 4 families is very comfortable.

We are Ken and Kay, the property managers of Lone Star Lodge. Growing up, Kay spent her summers swimming and floating on the Frio River with her parents and brothers making wonderful memories. Her family had a small cabin on the Frio near the bridge on CR 1120. While Kay was in college, she brought her soon-to-be husband to Leakey and introduced him to the Frio. As you would expect, Ken fell in love with the Frio River and the entire Frio Canyon area as Kay had at a much younger age. After being away from the area for over 30 years, they had the opportunity to return in 2021 for a visit and they fell in love with the area all over again. In May 2022, an opportunity to buy Frio Acres, a rental property with 5 modest cabins on 5 acres of land, presented itself. Without hesitation they decided to buy it. In 3 days, they sold their house in the Dallas area where they had lived for the previous 23 years, raising their two sons. Ken & Kay bought a 28’ travel trailer, loaded it up with some of life’s bare essentials that would be needed to live in a trailer for a while, and headed to Concan, TX on their new adventure. They arrived on May 28th, took over operating Frio Acres on June 1st. They officially bought Frio Acres on July 31st. In the spring of 2023 they were offered an opportunity to be the property managers for Lone Star Lodge which is just down the road from Frio Acres. They already knew the property and loved the large lot it sits on and the layout of the house. So they decided to get into the property management business and are now the new managers of Lone Star Lodge.
It was and continues to be one of the best decisions they have made during their 32 years together. We love it here and want to share that with you! Come visit, relax, and unwind on the river at Lone Star Lodge!
