About this property

Nestled in the farm prairies of Southern Illinois, is our newly offered cabin in the woods. This cabin was originally used to take advantage of the world class hunting that Southern Illinois is known for, but we have decided to make it into a cozy living space to share with others. Here you'll find many creature comforts such as endless hot water for showering, while still observing nature from the porch or yard area. Make s'mores at the fire pit, play outdoor games, and relax before a great night's sleep. Two brand new queen sized beds, complete with Beddy's brand sleepers in the lofts, and a brand new queen sleeper sofa will ensure a fresh and quality sleep. This cabin gives a nod to those that enjoy outdoor cooking with gas or charcoal options along with a spacious outdoor table on the porch. If you're looking to escape for the weekend, hunt for a few weeks or a traveler looking for a hotel alternative, consider this place home for a while.
*please note: there are stairs into the cabin and ladders to the lofts.

The Getaway Your Soul Has Been Craving

This is an amazing, off-the-beaten-path getaway. If you've been needing a Technology Sabbath, a rest away from the noise, a place to gather your thoughts and watch the flicker of a firepit flame as the owls hoot at each other... this place is for you! It's near some train-tracks, but even the sound of an approaching train (happened twice in our 48 hour stay) has something magical about it when you're in a place this quiet and peaceful. I heard owls, watched deer frolick, and even saw a mink on the property who stopped and did a few tricks for me... (I mistook him for a river otter at first). The cabin itself is super comfortable, well-built and insulated and had everything we needed to make life great in the woods. Our hosts even left us some chocolate and marshmallows to make Smoores, which the kids absolutely devoured! The people in and around Wayne City / Mt. Vernon were super kind and helpful when we went to town. The sunrises and sunsets were spectacular. And we even got to see the solar eclipse of 2024. A++ Highly Recommend!

Amazing Getaway!

My girlfriend and I had such a wonderful stay at the cabin! Everything was very cozy and hospitable and we can't wait to come back some day! The hosts were very helpful and communicative, and accomodated to us on very short notice. The location was beautiful, the nearby shops were wonderful, and the peace and quiet were just what we were looking for. There was also a neighborhood cat who visited and was very sweet. Overall, it was a great stay and we can't wait to come back!

Cozy Quiet Getaway

Spent a week here, for a much needed break from the hustle and bustle of the city. Nicely equipped with various cooking options wether you want to cook inside or fire up the grill. Loved being able to build a fire every night, our host was generous with the fire wood and was easy to reach if we ran out. The loft beds were so comfy definitely caught up on much needed sleep. Had forest right in the back yard but also we had our pick of near by forest preserves. Waking up to sounds of forest critters was nice. Big plus was having home amenities like hot water and washer and dryer so don’t have to pack too much clothes. So if you’re in need of a cozy relaxing get away book your trip. 😎
