I grew up on the west coast of Sweden in a coastal town called Varberg - also a surf town. My former house in Varberg was located on a peninsula called Getterön. Now, the tales of Getterön cannot be told without mentioning Astrid. "Astrid på skäret" (Astrid on the islet) - she was a fantastic woman! Lived in a red house, almost out in the ocean - all by herself and her 2 adopted daughters. In the 1940's Getterön got its own airfield and Astrid became an airport guard - the only female in the country! Astrid was a nature lover and looked after her pets and made sure that swans, ducks and small birds got their food even in winter. She was truly remarkable! When I moved from Getterön to Klitmöller - I needed to "bring" Astrid somehow. I think she would love it here! But the house could also be called House Of Ingeborg - my grandmother - or House of Clara who was the first lady in the house. All three women were strong and most uncommon in their time of lives. And now I live here. On my own:) Maybe not as wise and strong as my house women - but for sure independent - living the life I love; in or on or by the ocean! I still have a little place in Varberg, where most of my family live - my 3 adult kids not the least! And oh - Im not completely on my own - I have Bill! He is a rescue dog from Romania:) I love sharing my house with people from all over the world! It gives Astrid some extra character! And Astrid (from the islet) always had guests in her house - so I'm sort of keeping the tradition alive. It makes me thrilled to know I have been a small part in making someones vacation magical! My friends and family also loves visiting - so to be honest...it is very rare that i am here on my own:D
I always do my very best to make sure that my guests gets the best! I hope you will get to visit Astrid at some point! Peace out:)
