About Connie Griffin
This is our only rental property and like to stay here ourselves. We live in an antique farmhouse in the community of Cornwall which is only 20 minutes away. We have been there for 28 years. Steve Howatt fishes lobster on the north shore of the island and Connie Griffin makes one of a kind silver jewelry or vintage assemblage pieces which she sells locally or in her etsy shop. The satisfaction of our guests is very important to us. We believe vacations are good for the soul and everyone should have an enjoyable one.
Connie Griffin purchased this House in 2003
Why Connie Griffin chose Victoria
Having worked and played in the village for decades we felt lucky to get the opportunity to put a vacation home here.
What makes this House unique
The Starfish has wonderful views from its windows and is bright and clean. It is unique in that it is located in the village but privately situated. There are many things to do in the village like live theatre, kayak rentals, a chocolate factory, at least 3 nice restaurants to choose from, a take out, a jewelry shop, an antique store, and even a post office (to mail your postcard home) which also houses a quality shop to browse in. You can sometimes buy your fresh lobster right off the wharf depending on the open season.

A pristine, comfortable, adorable cottage on the water in the charming town of Victoria by the Sea
I spent 5 delightful days snuggled in this cabin in November, watching waterfowl at the water's edge, reading and enjoying the sun and sky's reflections on the water. It was a perfect place to rest and unwind, yet in the summer months, this cabin is located in the most charming of towns, Victoria by the Sea, a quaint artisan village with delicious dining. The location is ideal for a relaxing get-a-away for it is very private, as well as a base for exploring all the splendor the island has to offer.
The cottage was pristine, well-maintained, well-stocked and very comfortable. The deck on 2 sides of the house offers beautiful views of the water. The house sits off by itself on a large lot, so even though it is in town, it is very exclusive. There are not other houses around it so I felt I was having a very privileged experience.
I highly recommend this cottage at any time of the year and hope to make another visit there myself in the near future.
Thanks for the lovely review, Melanie. It's great hearing how much others enjoy their stay at our cottage. We love to spend time there ourselves and even though summers win the prize, what you say is true as it is a beautiful place to stay any time of year. It's hard not to feel relaxed when you look out the windows at the view.
You are most welcome to come again.
Great location, nice home
The barbeque needs to be replaced
Thank you for the reminder. We do plan to replace it in the spring.
Thanks for staying at the Starfish.
Fantastic house next to an adorable seaside village. My family and I very much enjoyed our stay. House very clean, nice kitchen. We had 2 small children with us and the proximity to a great yard and beach were absolutely wonderful. Kids loved the water and all the hermit crabs! The upstairs windows are a bit low for having small children around, so we just had to make sure they were closed and locked. The house is slightly removed from the village, but a very easy walk to everything in town.
Cute cottage in a quiet town!
Very cute cottage in a quiet town! It was perfect for our group of 6. The view of the property is just beautiful with the bay and ocean visible from all angles of the house. Beds and blankets were all great quality and very comfy. The town of Victoria is a very small quiet town though and all the restaurants are closed by 7:30 which kind of threw us off a bit. If you are looking for more of the night life something closer to Charlottetown would be better. Overall a great place to stay. Thank you to the owners!
It is true that Victoria by the Sea is not a night life town. You might have a better stay at a rental in Charlottetown or Summerside where you could enjoy some nightlife.
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your time there in spite of the quiet nights.
Incredible Views, Amazing Local Food, Peaceful & Relaxing Vacation
This cottage blew us away!! From the moment we drove up the lane way and saw the view, we knew this was going to be a great place. The Star Fish Beach House is spectacular! It is clean and very bright, with great wifi and amazing bed sheets. The view from every window left us speechless and never got tiresome. There is a cut path in the grass with beautiful wild flowers on either side as you make your way down to your own private beach. Our kids would spend hours daily down by the water collecting Hermit crabs, shells and Crayfish when the tide would go out.
Connie, the owner is very friendly, and helpful. She responds right away by text if you may have any questions about her place or any questions about PEI in general.
At the end of the driveway is a village that has amazing shops. My husband would go every morning for a coffee at Island Chocolates and relax on their porch. There is a great candle maker in the village who creates customized candles using the beautiful local red sand. The Lobster Barn restaurant is a must for dinner or lunch. Be sure to make a reservation for dinner as it gets busy. Back Home Antiques, in Crapaud is a great place. The owners are so friendly, we really enjoyed talking with them. There is also a local Restaurant called Anna's on the way into Victoria by the Sea, which has amazing breakfast.
We travelled to Cavendish Beach, Anne of Green Gables, North Rustico, Summerside and Charlottetown, all of which were not far from the cottage at all.
Our trip was incredible and staying at the Star Fish Beach House couldn't be anymore perfect. If your looking for a peaceful, relaxing property, with a quaint Village right at your fingertips, this is the place for you! We can't wait to come back.
Your family could not have been better guests. We enjoyed having you stay at The Starfish. The amount of fun you packed into the week was inspirational to say the least.
I hope you come back...you are welcome anytime.
I don't want to give away this secret!
We had a wonderful time here! The cottage was immaculate and the views were something not to tire of. Connie was extremely helpful if we needed it but we also felt like we had the appropriate amount of space as renters - that is, we only heard from her when I had a question about recycling and she responded immediately and enthusiastically. The cottage itself feels very private, but yet it is only about a 2-minute walk to the wharf. The best of both worlds. If you want a glass of wine or an ice cream cone, Victoria-by-the-Sea has it. If you need milk or toilet paper - pick it up before you arrive in this funky little outpost! Loved it!!
We are located in the artisan village of Victoria by the Sea. Take a stroll to find fine dining or good pub food, Island Chocolate Factory, By the Sea Kayaking, candy store, Victoria's Glass Studio and craft shops. Victoria has an operating fishing wharf where you can spend time watching the boats come and go, buy some fresh fish to cook up at our beach house You can also bring and launch your own pleasure craft.
If you have older kids they will most likely want to spend time wharf jumping as it is a favorite pastime on a hot summer day in Victoria. And you don't have to be a kid to take the plunge!! Digging clams on the low tide is also a memorable and well loved pastime of visitors and locals alike.
You can visit the Victoria by the Sea website to find more. Find it at www.victoriabythesea.ca
