About Donna Claytor
I am an artist and work in an art gallery on Cape Cod. My husband is a Civil Engineer and works for an environmental consulting company. We live in an old home (circa 1850) in the oldest town on the Cape. We have 2 dogs, 2 cats, & chickens. We have a vegetable garden, enjoy canning (& eating!) our veggies, kayaking, touring historic towns & houses and traveling.
Donna Claytor purchased this House in 2011
Why Donna Claytor chose Darien
We discovered Darien on our usual trip South to Florida. We fell in love with the historic town, the area and the warm, southern hospitality of the town's folk that welcomed us like family. Not nearly as crowded as Florida (or as pricey), Coastal Georgia has so much more to offer than just beach. We love New England, but hope to make Georgia our permanent winter home some day

Very charming, great time!
Property is comfortable, quaint and close to the small center of town. We needed to rest but assumed we would still do quite a bit of exploring. As it turned out, we were so taken with the cottage and the town that we mostly just hung out and veged. We'll be back!

Very pleasant & comfortable stay at the Red Door Cottage!
We arrived to the lights on, basket full of goodies & comfortable beds. Our goal was to drive the countrysides of Georgia & So. Carolina, which we did, but it was hard to leave the cottage.
We enjoyed having you! Next time slow down and enjoy the low country.
A wonderful four days!
The cottage was lovely, clean and spacious! It was a pleasure to stay in such a charming place. The town of Darien is rich with history and close to St. Simons, Brunswick and Jekyll Island. We enjoyed our visit very much. It was a relaxing four days. We recommend the Red Door Cottage to all who need a place to stay in Darien or the surrounding area. Terry & Kelly
Quiet, comfortable, nicely furnished home.
Red Door Cottage is a comfortable, relaxing home away from home. This 100 year old home has been very well kept and nicely upgraded. The furnishing are beautiful with original paintings and antiques. The master bed was very comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet and everyone we have met are very friendly. The fenced in yard and screened back porch have been relaxing for everyone especially our dogs. Darien is a great home base from which to explore the Georgia lowland country located mid way between Savannah and Amelia Island. When we return to Darien I hope to stay at the Red Door Cottage again.
Thank You! We appreciate your great review. Sounds like you enjoyed your month on the Georgia Coast. Safe travels!

Charming, clean & well appointed
My neighbor and I split the time here and his experience was just as good as mine. You feel right at home here. Beds and furniture are comfortable, decor is charming (many local artist work in each room), lots of extras: soaps, shampoo, and coffee was appreciated. Darien is a small town and the locals are very friendly. We will definitely be back!
Rented this adorable house for a week and loved every minute we stayed here. Have family one street over so could not have been more convenient. There was not one thing we needed during the week that was not provided for in the house. Will definitely think about rebooting in future.
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at our Red Door Cottage! It is our special home, away from home. We love it and are happy to share it with the right guests. Please come back and visit Darien again! Thank you, Donna and Rich
Located a short distance from Fort King George, Old City Jail Art Center, Hofwyl Broadfield Plantation, Harris Neck National Wildlife Refuge and Sapelo Island are just a few great places to visit. Kayaks are available in town for guided tours or to discover the numerous waterways on your own.
