Perfect cozy mountain cottage
Loved this place. Great house, large rooms, comfortable beds. Incredibly clean! Amazing view!
Thank you for your kind review. Highlands is a wonderful place to visit and live. We look forward to having you come back and stay with us.
Great location.Nice, cozy well equipped home with a beautiful view.
We and our dogs had a very nice time. The main TV in the living room could be larger and HD. The bedroom TVs should be upgraded to flat screens. Having an adequate supply of firewood and starters would have been nice for the wonderful fireplace. There was no bar soap or body wash in the master shower. We would definitely return.
Beautiful View, Quiet, Serene
Britton House is very homey, well equipped, it is conveniently located within walking distance to town. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the property.
Britton House is the perfect Highlands getaway!
Guests to Britton House are warmly welcome the moment they walk through the door! This delightful & gracious guesthouse provided us with a lovely mountain stay, and everything we needed for our week in charming Highlands. The house is stocked with everything one could possibly need, is clean and cozy, and of course still has today's necessities such as television and WiFi. But truly, the biggest gift Britton House gives to its guests each and every night is the sunset--an unobstructed spectacular view from its wonderful back porch! The town of Highlands is an easy walk or drive, as are many local attractions including art galleries, shopping, waterfalls, and much more. When in town, be sure to have lunch outside at the Old Edward Inn, and for an elegant dinner try the restaurant, On the Veranda. Britton House is a true find that we look forward to visiting for years to come--many thanks to the owners for sharing such a dear property.
Natural Beauty & Classic Charm; Unwind with Sunsets, Warm Hearth & Warm Hearts
Can you bring teens, tots, seniors and the sandwhich generation together for fun in one place? We did! This home is simple, warm and classic with a big living room that opens onto a deck with a perfect view of the mountains at sunset. There is a dining room for six, but we squeezed in nine for a candlelight dinner, and could have had many more if we had set up the extra tables in the closet. The house is very well equipped for table events; card games, crafting, scrap-booking, meals, showers, packing Christmas-child boxes, or make-overs & Mary Kay parties. ( I would recommend it for a retreat or mom escape weekend, but we brought kids & introduced them all to Trivial Pursuit! )
There is a lovely working fireplace and a sense of calm and connection with nature. The walls are wood paneled and there is a lot of natural light. There are two bathrooms and two bedrooms, but also a fold out sofa and roll-away bed & pack 'n play. If you are fittness folks, downtown is an easy morning run, so you can jog out for your morning cup of coffee at Bucks. Next time I would like to come for a longer stretch and get more outdoor time in the beautiful woods, but even if you're a homebody and an introvert, the house is a lovely escape from noise and frenzy.
Exceptional view, close to town!
We recently spent a week at the Britton House to celebrate our first anniversary. What a good choice! It was very comfortable and cozy, with everything we needed for a great stay. The house is close to town, which so many rentals are not. It is a comfortable walk away or a short car ride to all the shops and restaurants in downtown Highlands. There were several brochures in the coffee table drawer to help us decide what fun things to do or where to eat. Our 2 favorites were "On the Verandah" and Madison's. And the view from the balcony - what can I say?? We were mesmerized each evening as we watched the sun go down! We will definitely be back :-)
