I am a real estate agent in NYC. The husband is an entrepreneur who puts too much faith in me! We have two young boys who keep us busy and young. Together we are a strong and passionate team of four who work hard and play even harder! We love Harlem and everything it has to offer, and are forever spreading the word on this amazing neighborhood.
Owner purchased this Townhouse in 2005
Why Owner chose Manhattan
When I met my husband over 10 years ago all he talked about was Harlem, he was rootly involved in the rehabilitation of many Brownstones back when no one wanted to be there, and was passionate about owning a part of history. He was very specific about what he wanted, and sent me out in the jungle with his list to find it. And I didn't fail. Five years and two gorgeous boys later, our dream of owning a Brownstone in the historic neighborhood of Harlem came to fruition, and we couldn't be happier to share it with the world. We hope you enjoy the neighborhood, culture and soul as much as we do. We love waking up in the morning and strolling the streets of the city. There is really nothing like it (except a great cup of coffee).

Check-in Disaster, but Owner Redeemed Herself
We arrived on Sep 14 (for 3-night stay), dropped off our bags a little after 11am, because I had made arrangements with owner and she said that was fine. When we came in, the unit was still "dirty" from previous guest. Then we left.
When we got back at 5:30pm the unit was still dirty!? Contacted owner, there was a big mess up regarding scheduling, and she apologized that the unit could NOT be cleaned till the next morning!? but she would send some people to make it usable.
We went out again, and she sent some people to clean a little, and throw all the linens in the washer. When I called back for status, was informed that sheets/towels were washed and I just had to throw in dryer. We were out downtown, and I did not want to have to take care of putting on all the sheets late at night when we got back, and asked her to handle that, and she sort of did. The queen beds in basement got new sheets, but we still had to set up the two queen airbeds on our own - and try to find the sheets/blankets for them.
The next morning, my friends who laid in the airbeds complained, because they had both deflated!!! so they did not have a restful night. We were so tempted to move out and cancel the rest of the reservation, but there was 8 of us, and we would not be able to find a place for a similar price.
I called the owner again, asked for the airbeds to be replaced, and she agreed to do it right away. Meanwhile, the cleaner arrived, then we went out. During the day, exchanged a few calls with owner about status, and asked her to ensure the new airbeds were set up for us.
When we got back on Night#2, the unit smelled nice and clean, beddings and towels were replaced, everything was clean. This was what we expected on Night#1!!
Night 1 was disastrous, but it was a relief that the owner was responsive and did everything to make it right, in the end she didn't make me pay for the cleaning fee.
What we liked:
- Location is near subway stop
- There is a grocery along the way
- The unit is quiet and roomy, and the A/C works well
- The neighbors were friendly
- You can walk to Central Park if you wanted to
- Generous supply of paper towels and toilet paper
- Plenty plates, cups, utensils for everyone
What could be better:
- easy identification of the sheets for the airbeds, and extra pillows, blankets
- the door handle to the bathroom downstairs was broken (owner said she was going to have that fixed)
Great stay with separate sleeping space and back yard
We enjoyed our stay at the apartment. It was very clean and the owner was very communicative. It was in the 90s when we visited, but because the apartment is at garden level, the whole place was cool. We were traveling with kids, and didn't need to break out the blackout curtains we travel with, because the bedroom gets very dark, which was really nice.
A group of us stayed here for our girls’ trip to NYC. The property was as advertised and close to everything we needed. We would certainly stay here again.
Great Time in NYC
Very convenient for family of 9 (we also rented smaller Apt. from same Owner next door) to see all of NYC,added bonus we found a number of great Restaurants within walking distance .
Very convenient and clean
The house was perfect for our stay in NYC. We had 9 people staying (7 adults and 2 children) and there was adequate sleeping and eating room. The kitchen and bathroom were VERY minimally stocked - but it was adequate. The house is conveniently located near the express subway, so coming to and from the city was easy. The house was clean and as advertised. Amal did a great job and was very quick to answer my questions before the trip.
It was an alright stay
Our stay was alright but could have been a lot better. The steps going down to the apartment were icy and it would have been nice if they were shovelled (as a safety precaution too). Unfortunately, the hot water heater was also a problem. First day, the water was not hot enough. The following next day, the hot water was totally gone which is really tough to go without in the winter. The space itself was good for a big family like ours. We also appreciated the availability and convenience of the kitchen facilities. The basement was nice and clean but the main floor where the sofa beds were, didn’t seem clean (particularly the carpets and sofa itself). On the bright side, the host, Amal would readily answer all our questions. She was nice enough to refund us a day’s rent for the loss of hot water. In summary, its was an alright stay. The host did her best to alleviate the situation so hopefully those issues would be resolved for the next guests.
