Karla purchased this House in 1995
Why Karla chose Hayden
I had a motel and RV park in this area in the 70's and I bought this land for future development because it is such a beautiful spot with big trees and wildlife and a gorgeous lake.

Perfect summer getaway
This was a great place to stay for our group. We had 7 people; myself, my husband, 3 kids and 2 grandparents. The beds were comfortable for all of us and there was plenty of room to relax. Everything was clean and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed for cooking meals. There were brand new recliners and a futon downstairs.
The location was central for going south to CDA and north to Silverwood and Sandpoint. Lake access was as expected and easy to get to. Because it is located on the north side of the lake the sun would be behind the tree line by mid afternoon.
Karla was friendly and accessible if we needed anything.
Beautiful area - Older Home needs updates
The area is beautiful and the house is adequate however for the money we expected more updated amenities. The kitchens were ok but need to be stocked more adequately and replace things that are very old and non- functional. The pull out bed also needs replaced as it is slanted when out so the person who sleeps on it heads south in the night.
It’s a beautiful and quiet spot but a bit misleading!
The house was advertised as being on the lake when in all actuality it was up on the hill above the road. We were lead to believe it was actually closer to the water then it was. There were absolutely no pantry items or condiments so we had to bring almost every little thing to even prepare meals. The utensils and cooking pans are terrible and made it difficult to prepare meals. We told Karla that we had 9 people and she said more then enough space but only 3 bedrooms I guess she expected the children to sleep on the floor. We did everything she asked of us upon vacating the house. We washed all towels dried them and put them away. The one towel we missed we put in the washing machine and told her upon leaving to which she replied was ok. She then claimed we didn’t wash the towels or put them away and that we used extra sheets and that she needed to charge us 20 just to use them! She hadn’t provided enough bedding for our 9 guests so we of course had to use them! There were multiple hornets nests under the deck near our eating area and no sign of any attempt to control them. We also had paid with an international credit card as our guests were out of the country. There was never any mention of any associated fees from Karla or HomeAway before paying. Once she received payment a whole 4 months before our stay she charged us over $50 in bank fees she claims were charged to her. Overall, this property was overpriced, way too far from basic amenities, unequiped to house a party larger than 6 and basic pantry items and condiments missing which most houses that rent for over a week provide you with these things. The water trampoline was old and lost its spring so not even the children could really bounce on it. The game room was so old and dingy I didn’t even want to set foot in it our kids got no use out of it. There were also several other properties on this lot that we were not aware of either and extra people staying here which was never mentioned once to us. We thought we would have complete privacy! If your going to spend this amount of money for a hayden lake rental go elsewhere. I do not recommend this property.
Thank you for your input. It is unfortunate that although I live in my own home on the 1 acre property, no questions were ever asked about anything.
First of all, there are 3 bedrooms with 2 king beds and a queen bed. A queen sleeper sofa in the living room as advertised. If they did not know how to pull it out, they could have asked me. Also upstairs a futon that lifts from the bottom to make a comfortable double bed with linen stored in the bottom. No one has to sleep on the floor!
I am only open 4 months a year so do not keep condiments over the winter other than salt, pepper and Pam cooking spray. There are 2 full kitchens so about 7frying pansof different sizes, 10 saucepans from 1 to 3 quarts, 3 6 quart ones for large items. All other small appliances. I just bought a 13 piece stainless steel/copper set to replace some of the older pots and pans.
There are no hornets nests under the deck. I have regular pest control service. I have wasp traps out. Wasps come out of the woods and are attracted to cooking smells. So far this summer, I have had2 extra wasp treatments as hot, dry summer has warrented this.
I do not know why VRBO charges the 3% credit card fee and then another 2% fee for International cards. I took all cards for 29 years at my motel and never had to pay extra for International cards. This is the first yeart I have taken credit cards so was surprised at the extra fees charged to me. . I did tell them 4 months ahead of time they would owe $54 upon arrival. They did not ask about it or offer to pay so it was deducted from damage deposit as it was shown on their Reservation Confirmation sent to them in March.
I hired a photographer with a Drone to take pictures of my property so by looking at pictures provided on VRBO it shows this home to be at the top of the driveway, about 350' from the water.
Water trampolines are constructed in different ways. They do not bounce like land trampolines. Some have metal rims that are on the water and allow higher bouncing. I opted for something safer so kids of all ages can take a couple of bounces and go into the water safely. Both trampolines have been used less than 1 year since taken out of the lake each September and put in June 1st.
Wake boarding and tubing behind a power boat.
