About this property

Artist Residency, a loft apartment above a Sculpture Studio

This Artist Residency, is a creative, comfortable, one bedroom, private loft nestled within our sculpture studio and is located in the Mission Creek neighborhood. Enjoy fine art, a gourmet kitchen, large windows with northern light and a garden view, a king size bed, and a natural gas franklin stove. Near historic Rainbow Grocery, Heath Ceramics, artistic cafe's, Guss’ community market, local art galleries, theaters, and parks. Monthly Rental

Our one bedroom Artist's Loft is not just another place to sleep and work, it is an Art Residency. We invite a responsible artist(s), or couple, to stay in our beautiful, recently renovated, private loft, nestled above our Sculpture Studio. This is a perfect spot for a writer, visual artist, filmaker, photographer, or theater related artist. You will also observe art projects in progress from windows that look into the sculpture studio or you may also draw the blinds for privacy. Visiting artists may have tea or coffee with the Brian, discuss art and get advice on local art happenings and installations in the area. Brian is also available to give tours of his local art installations. The location is excellent, a commercial Live/Work space, in the center of the arts & design quarter of the Mission, safe, with lots of character, surrounded by trees and some of the best restaurants, theaters, art galleries, cafes and shopping in San Francisco. There are three theaters in our building: Z Space, Z Below, and Theater of Yugen as well as over 50 art studios with local artists of all mediums. There is also a performance space next door where they sometimes have classes you may join. It is just a few blocks from the historic Rainbow Grocery Cooperative and across the street from Guss's market with fresh baked bread. The Mission is an international favorite neighborhood to explore local Murals. Our Space is five blocks to bustling foodie friendly Valencia Street and the BART (the local subway) station. The neighborhood is a pleasant area to walk, bike and just 10min to downtown SF by BART. Our comfortable and unique loft has been carefully furnished and decorated with contemporary art, artifacts and up-cycled materials such as salvaged bowling ally floors, reclaimed wood and fixtures, ancient Indian and Afghan doors. Staying here offers moments of being outside of the normal bounds of time, a mythical space where one may dive deep into a creative life in the arts.

I'm a local Artist and I enjoy meeting sharing my Artist Residency with other Artists. I've been hosting on Airbnb (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1944564?preview_for_ml=true&source_impression_id=p3_1703637442_wPytKR0n3zDXL2lc) for ten years and have 4.98 stars and 516 reviews. I am hoping to make the shift to VRBO and find more international artists to come visit! This is a perfect spot for a writer, visual artist, filmaker, photographer, or theater related artist.
