Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 7-8)
We are Pat and Mary Gavin and we have been traveling to the Smokies for years. We love it and it is a great escape from the heat of Florida. We bought our property about 20 years ago with hopes of building some day. We built this log cabin home in 2009. As is with most homes it is still a work in progress but quite comfortable. We have everything you would need for a comfortable relaxing vacation.
Why Owner chose Maple Springs
So much to see and do in this area. 30 minutes west of Asheville, home of the great Biltmore Estate. 45 minutes east of Smoky Mountain National Park.
What makes this Cabin unique
We love to grill out on the deck and enjoy the view and sunset.

Perfect Mountain Getaway
We just love this home! Beautiful home, awesome views, and close to everything you could want to do! We can't wait to come back.
5 Star in Waynesville
The property was exactly as described and the view was perfect. It is well laid out for a family or a group. Our only regret was that we were too busy and didn’t stay in the house more. Do note that you can hear the interstate a bit. We knew this going in but wanted to be near stores. Lastly, the location was really good for day trips to Highlands, Lake Fontana, Asheville, white water rafting, etc, etc. Hopefully this becomes an annual trip and we can make it back here!
Beautiful place & views!
We really enjoyed our stay and hope to visit again.
The Perfect Mountain Getaway!
Thank you Pat and Mary Gavin for providing a beautiful mountain home! Views are amazing and the home is decorated and maintained immaculately. We enjoyed our stay so much and are looking forward to returning again next year.
Thank you Elizabeth for your wonderful review. We are so happy you enjoyed your stay. We love having guests like you! Pat and Mary
This was our first VRBO experience, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home. So relaxing and peaceful with breathtaking views! Everything was very comfortable and you felt right at home. The deck was our favorite spot, by far. A bit of a bummer that you could hear the interstate from the deck, but it wasn't enough to keep us from spending a great deal of time there! Highly recommend that you arrive the first time during the day, and the owners make sure to stress that as well. Once you make the drive a couple of times, you get the hang of it, but it would be quite tricky to do in the dark the first time. We highly recommend this home. Thanks for a great experience!
Thank you Robert for the wonderful review. So happy you enjoyed your stay! Pat and Mary
You won't find a better house
I need to start by restating what the other reviewers have already said, because it can't be emphasized enough--the pictures do not remotely do Pat and Mary's place justice!!!
From the moment you come down the driveway after winding your way to the top of the mountain, the house and setting take your breath away.
We arrived at sunset, walked in, and didn't get back out to unpack the car for hours. We couldn't pull ourselves away from the huge deck that spans the width of the house and offers an almost birds eye view of the mountains and valley beneath it.
Our mornings were fog filled until the sun burned it off, but every night we were fortunate enough to enjoy a spectacular sunset. It was secluded, private, and incredibly relaxing.
The home itself has everything you could need (included all cooking/baking essentials) and was immaculately clean. There is more thought and care put into Pat and Mary's home than any other we have ever rented. Our kids loved the air hockey table, sitting in the hanging chairs, making smores by the fire pit, and playing board games on the deck. We went the whole week without one of them even mentioning the enormous TV, which is the biggest complement they could possibly pay a vacation home.
We had no problem getting up or down the mountain, but it is a very winding and steep road. Go SLOWLY!
Location wise, it was perfect for us. We spent a day hiking in Smoky Mountain National Park, hiking in Pisgah National Forest, a couple days in Asheville (30 min), a day at the Biltmore, and a day on the east side at the WNC Nature Center (a MUST with kids) and Craggy Gardens Trail. All were within 45 min or less. For a family from the DC area, that drive time flew by because of the lack of traffic and non-white knuckle driving.
We also did a brewery a day, and our two favorite were not in Asheville, but only 15 minutes away in Waynesville--Frog Level and Boojum. Frog Level brewing has the most scenic/relaxing brewery set up I've ever encountered. Go.
Thank you to the Gavins for sharing your home. We hope to have one just like it some day. As someone whose parents poured their blood, sweat, and tears (and their kids'!) into maintaining a rental home on the Outer Banks for 30 plus years, I know what goes into keeping a home in such wonderful, thoughtful condition. It was greatly appreciated. We can't wait to be back in the future.
Go see it for yourself. You won't be disappointed!!!!
What an amazing review Paul!!! It sounds like you and your family had a wonderful vacation. We do love the fact that our property is so centrally located. We appreciate all of your compliments. We hope you will come back some day but until then enjoy the memories!
