Madrone Meadow by RedAwning

This super Sea Ranch home works equally well for a large family or, a business or group retreat. Located on the forested hillside above the North Recreation Center, the serene view of majestic redwoods and the natural woodland completes the retreat atmosphere. Discover the hidden side of Sea Ranch by exploring one of the tempting hiking trails nearby. There is no ocean view from this location.


This Sea Ranch home has four levels, three living rooms, three woodstoves, three bathrooms. Two washers, two dryers, hot tub, propane BBQ. In addition to the woodstoves, there is electric baseboard heat


Top Floor: One open room at the top of the stairs: 1 queen and 3 twin beds

Third Floor: One bedroom: 1 queen bed; and an open living room type area with 3 twin beds and a woodstove; a washer & dryer; one bathroom with tub/shower.

Second (main) Floor: Entry, full living room: sofa and seating, woodstove, TV/VCR; One bedroom: 1 queen bed; Kitchen, dining area, bathroom with large tub/shower, access to deck and hot tub. The full kitchen is up to date, with all stainless steel appliances, and is open to the living and dining room.

First Floor: Living room: woodstove, queen bed; One bedroom: 1 queen, 2 twin, Bathroom with tub/shower, washer & dryer

PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE FOLLOWING:

Sea Ranch pool/guest passes can only be provided to cover up to 6 guests. (Sea Ranch rule, and it applies to all homes and all agencies.) If more than 6 guests will wish to use the pools or other amenities all at the same time, individual DAY USE passes must be purchased in advance--cost is $5 per person per day. Property Manager can arrange this for you with at least several days notice.

Parking is available for 3 vehicles ONLY. Ask your reservationist for additional information.


Due to water conservation in effect, we do not make up all the beds. Please make up ONLY the bed(s) you'll use to minimize unnecessary laundry loads. Clean linens will be bagged in each room.

ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES AND RULES

Drones are strictly prohibited in The Sea Ranch.

Maximum occupancy (not including children under 3) shall be 8 (eight).

Maximum number of vehicles shall be 3 (two), parked on pavement on cul-de-sac, and 1 space in nearby carbarn.

Quiet hours must be observed between 9pm and 7am every day.

NO outdoor amplified sound is allowed at any time of day or night.

The Sonoma County TOT certificate number for this home is 1850.


17.5% occupancy tax, plus cleaning and reservation fees will be added to the Daily and Weekly base rate.

Sea Ranch stay.
We spent three nights in late July 2019 at this property. The previous reviews had indicated the furniture was somewhat worn. This was accurate. However, we did enjoy the property, felt the kitchen was well stocked, the hot tub worked well as did the barbecue. The location was excellent. The parking was a little inconvenient, with only two cars allowed at the side, despite ample room. Garbage drop off at a site about a quarter-mile away was a bit of a nuisance. It would’ve been nice to have passes to the pool for all members of our party (9) included but only six were. We thought the cleaning fee was excessive at $400 for three nights, especially since we are required to do some of the work before leaving. In general, we feel the add-on fees for VRBO are excessive. Having said all that, we had a lovely time! Jim

The property was beautifully situated in the trees above the ocean, secluded and comfy. Some of the furniture is threadbare.

Some flaws in an otherwise excellent rental
In no particular order, here are our issues with this property. 1. It was presented as a property with parking for a maximum of 3 cars. Only 2 Sea Ranch parking passes are provided and the third car must park far down a steep hill in a covered space. This is not convenient. 2. All the queen or larger beds had terrible mattresses. Everyone had the same complaint of rolling to the middle. 3. No dishwasher (automatic) soap or hand dishwashing was provided. Not acceptable. 4. Several devices like heater controls and smoke detectors were damaged or broken. 5. In general, the place is just tired and worn. It needs new furniture and some TLC.

House was perfect for our needs
The house was perfect for our needs. Different family units had their own floor which gave them privacy, and there was even a floor for the 17 year old girl! We loved the view of redwood trees from the living room and the proximity to the pool. The kitchen is well-equipped, and we definitely enjoyed using the barbecue. Our only complaint was that 2 of the double/queen beds were not comfortable. They sagged in the middle and were too soft.

CRITICAL PARKING INFORMATION
A key piece of information left out of the description (and all communications from the rental company): this house only allows three cars, and one of those has to park all the way down the hill. If you show up with more than 3 cars (because who rents a house for 12 people and only brings 3 cars?), you'll be having words with the Sea Ranch security staff. They reserve the right to boot your car, but they actually just made us drive our extra cars to their overflow/impound lot a few miles away and lock them in for the weekend. They didn't charge us anything, but it was a pretty big pain -- if we knew in advance, we could've rented a couple of vans so we'd all fit into fewer vehicles and avoid the whole mess. Overall the house was great for a big group, with tons of space and a ridiculous number of beds. The kitchen was well-stocked with pots and pans, but the refrigerator was weirdly small for a house with so many beds. We had to do some serious fridge tetris.
