About Mike and Sharon Lahti
We have 6 Children & 14 Grandchildren who we absolutely adore. We are in the real estate and rental business. We lead very busy lives, but would have it no other way.
Mike and Sharon Lahti purchased this House in 2005
Why Mike and Sharon Lahti chose Hancock
It is secluded, yet close to town. You walk in and right away it feels like home; and to have 300 ft. of Sandy Beach and a dock to fish off, there is no question that your stay with us will be one that you will remember. Disconnect from the whirlwind and relax at our cabin.
What makes this House unique
Our Children & the Grandchildren can play in the water and it is shallow for quite a ways. Our Sauna is so relaxing and a jump in the lake after will cool you off right away. Also, we know you will enjoy having enough room for all of your family and/or friends to gather.

Nicely appointed, beautiful view, relaxing
This was our second visit and enjoyed it it just as much as the first. We always enjoy our time in the area and this makes a very comfortable place to stay. Mike and Sharon are always fantastic and very attentive. Our only set back is that the internet is a bit spotty especially with multiple users at the same time.
Our family of four really enjoyed this private spot. Great for swimming and watching wildlife and close to our favorite spots in the Keweenaw. Mike and Sharon are great hosts and the house has all the amenities that are needed.
Beautiful Home, Great Location
Great base for exploring the Keweenaw Peninsula. This lovely home had everything we were looking for. Spacious, clean, comfortable beds, tastefully decorated, quiet location, fabulous lake view, well provisioned kitchen, and wifi. Our hosts were wonderful as well - responsive and helpful. Some of our favorite experiences in the area were the mineral museum on the Mich Tech campus (great gift shop), taking a mine tour, and riding UTVs on the extensive trail system (rented from Trailside north of Calumet.). Thank you Mike and Sharon for sharing your beautiful home with us!
A lovely stay. Everything was well maintained and clean. The kitchen was great as was the rest of the property. Convenient to Houghton/Hancock and the rest of the Keewenaw.
We had a terrific stay at this property in July 2017. It is exceptionally clean and comfortable, and it has absolutely everything needed for a wonderful getaway. The owners are accessible and kind. Our whole family loved the place, and we hope to return again...and again. Thank you for providing such a quality place for family memories to be made.
Dollar Bay spring
Great location. Very nice home in Michigan's U.P. abundant wildlife to watch, eagles, loons, Red Fox, deer, all from the door-wall. This home was a wonderful location to stay for our son's graduation from Michigan Technological University. Close enough to Houghton/Hancock yet secluded and private.
Sparkling Shores is located on the Portage Canal behind the small town of Dollar Bay, MI.
Come unplug and enjoy your stay with us!
