We purchased this home as a retreat from every day life. We tell everyone that our best family time is spent 'Up North.' This is where we get away from the hustle and bustle of real life and reconnect as a family. We have made so many memories at the lake and would like to give others the opportunity to do the same.
What makes this House unique
Embden Lake is awesomely clean and peaceful! There is very little boat traffic, but it is not desolate either. Neighbors are friendly and respectful. The East Shore boasts the most amazing views on the lake. We love to greet each day with a cup of coffee on the porch swing down by the dock and then gather there again each evening to take in the fiery sunsets. Fish jump, eagles soar, loons call. In the winter, we cuddle up in the warmth of our cabin, enjoy holidays and home cooked meals. We ski, snowmobile, ice fish, and just enjoy the outdoors together. There is no place we'd rather be. We are sure you'll feel the same!

Please sign, date and mail attached rental agreement below to secure rental. Maximum Occupancy: There shall be a maximum of eight (8) people (children included) allowed to stay at the Property during the tenancy. Additional overnight occupants must be pre-approved and are subject to an additional fee as determined by Owners. Tenants may not host functions or other gatherings at the Property of any kind. No invitees or other parties may participate in the rental other than the names listed on this contract. Any infraction on this point will result in immediate dismissal from the Property and forfeiture of all payments. Furnishings and Utilities; Condition of Property. The Property is equipped with all required furnishings. Tenant shall not move any furniture. Owners shall be responsible for all utilities. Owners will make best faith effort to keep the Property in a good and rentable condition. However, Owners make no representations as to the condition of the contents thereof or personal property located therein, and Tenant accepts the same in their present condition, as is, where is. Bed linens and towels. Tenant will provide bed linens and towels for own use during rental period. Owner will provide all other items necessary for housekeeping, including (but not limited to) cleaning products, bed pillows, blankets, cooking and eating utensils, dishes and glassware. Damage Reporting. Tenant shall leave the Property in the same condition as the date of occupancy. Any damage to the Property or to any personal property belonging to Owners during Tenant’s occupancy, whether by Tenant or its invitees or guests, shall be reported promptly to the Owners so that Owners may repair or replace such items for the benefit of Tenant and others. Smoking/Fires. Tenant, its invitees and guests, shall not smoke inside the cabin. Fires may be lit only in designated fire-pit area outside. Tenant shall not handle the ashes in the fire pit, which shall be left in the pit for cleaning by the Owners. Rules and Regulations. No Pets are allowed on the Property. All garbage shall be placed in bags as instructed and deposited in the official trash bins located outside near the cabin. Tenants are asked to bring trash bin to end of driveway on Wednesday morning at 7AM and return trash bin after trash pick up. Tenant and its guests and invitees shall comply with such other instructions regarding the Property as are posted (or in guests book) at the Property. Tenant Risk. Tenant, its invitees and guests, shall occupy the Property, surrounding grounds, dock, and lake at their own risk. Owner shall not be liable for any loss of, damage to, or destruction of any of Tenant’s property. Right to Enter. Owners and their agents shall have the right to enter the Property during reasonable hours and after reasonable notice to examine the Property. Termination. If Tenant violates any terms or provisions of this Agreement, then Owners shall have the right to terminate the tenancy and Tenant shall promptly vacate the Property, without waving of any other rights or remedies Owners may have under this agreement. Indemnity. Tenant shall indemnify and hold Owners harmless from and against any and all loss, damage, claim, demand, suit, judgment or liability which may be incurred, and from any costs or expenses arising out of or resulting from Tenant’s use and occupancy of the Property, surrounding grounds, dock, and lake, excepting only liability which may result from the negligence or willful act of the Owners. Rent Payment. Two non-refundable deposits should be paid in order to rent the property. The first deposit at the time of booking and the second deposit should be paid 60 days prior to guest check in date. Security Deposit. Tenants shall be held responsible and liable for any and all damages to the property caused by tenant, or any invitee of tenant. In addition to the Rental Amount, Tenant shall pay, three (3) weeks prior to occupancy, a security deposit in the amount of two hundred and fifty dollars ($250.00). All or a portion of the security deposit may be retained by the Owners to cover the actual costs of any loss or damage to the property and the costs of returning the Property to a clean condition, should extra cleaning (beyond normal housecleaning) be required following termination of the tenancy. The full security deposit and/or the balance of the security deposit will be returned to the Tenant with an explanation for the amount retained (if any). In the event that costs secured by the security deposit exceed the deposit, the Tenant shall be liable to Owners for the deficiency.

This 3 bed room house overlooking the lake was super clean, comfortable and had every thing we were be looking for. Embden Pond is great for swimming and we enjoyed hearing the loons in the distance. Great paddles and great hikes. We definitely want to come back. Thanks to the Mogensens who were great to rent from!
Embden Pond Get Away
Our family was looking for a relaxing vacation and we found it. We slept late and got up and spent most of the day on the water. Some family members fished, all of us kayaked, paddle boarded and went swimming. The lake is a very clean lake!!!
The house was clean, spacious, and had inside and out side eating areas. The wi-fi worked well. Two of us had google phones and were able to text and receive phone calls. We took advantage of the movies and games that were provided.
We saw an eagle who dove for a fish while we were kayaking, a mother black duck and her babies, loons, turtles and a great blue heron. The sunsets were spectacular. Every night a 8pm we sat on the swing and took pictures of the sun setting.
Any questions we had about the house, wi-fi, or area were answered in a book on the table. The owners were good about giving us any updates about the trip.

We just finished a weeklong stay at Camp Moegensen and I don’t even know where to begin when it comes to all the good things about the house/lake/owners.
First of all, Ranae and Jeff are amazing. They’re incredibly responsive and full of all kinds of helpful information. If you stay, make sure you read the manual that Ranae provides - it’s a wealth of important information, helpful tips, and fun things to do and see. And throughout the week Ranae and Jeff were always quick to respond to our texts if we had any questions or concerns. Wonderful people.
On to the house. Simply put, the house is beautiful. Ranae and Jeff clearly take great pride in keeping it in tip-top shape and making it welcoming for all guests. The pictures don’t really do it justice - it’s even bigger and nicer than it appears online. We had 6 adults and an 8-month old baby and we did not feel the least bit cramped in any way. Whether you’re coming with family or friends or both (like us), it’s a perfect Maine lake house.
As for the lake itself, the water is crystal clear and the dock is perfect for hanging out, jumping off, and definitely fishing. We caught plenty of smallmouth bass and some perch right off the dock with good old fashioned worms and bobbers. The back of the property faces west so you get the added bonus of a picturesque sunset every night.
There’s a fire pit for s’mores, there’s kayaks and a canoe and a paddle board (and life jackets) for those feeling adventurous. The deck is huge with a terrific Weber grill and a big table for eating dinner outside as the sun goes down.
We made what seems like a lifetime of memories in just a week. Can’t wait to come back next year!
This is a fantastic vacation rental. Has everything you need. Beautiful home. Gorgeous lake. Our family had a fablulous weekend.
Terrific lake-front setting for family gathering!
This was a perfect setting for our family gathering on Embden Pond. We felt right at home in this well-maintained and equipped house. The living/dining area with beautiful lake/forest views was just right for shared meals and conversation. We read, napped and watched a lunar eclipse from the lovely deck. The kitchen had everything we needed and the bedrooms were comfortable. The fall weather was warm so all ages enjoyed the dock and boats. We hope to visit again next year!
This retreat on Embden Pond was great! The place truly lives up to the pictures. Everything was exactly what we expected it to be and more. Our only regret on this trip is that we had too little time(four nights) to enjoy the home as we were busy with the activities that we had planned. The owners were a delight to deal with and we would not hesitate to come back here for a longer stay.
