About this property

PODERE LA VILLA is one of the most charming typical Tuscan houses of the area. It is located in the hilly Chianti countryside, just a few minutes outside of San Casciano where there is a large grocery store, as well as a pharmacy, shops and restaurants. It is an easy drive to Florence (15 Km), Siena (60 km), and Pisa (70 Km). From here you can easily get to San Gimignano, Volterra, Certaldo, and many other fascinating local villages.

Podere la Villa is ideal for anyone looking for a relaxing and peaceful place in the heart of the Chianti Classico wine region. There are a number of easy, beautiful hikes to take directly from our property that take you through vineyards and wooded areas. Or, just relax at home in one of the many lovely eating/lounging areas, or by the panoramic pool (open mid May to mid October). It is especially gorgeous here both in the Spring and in September-October during harvest.

MORE ABOUT THE VILLA

This villa is our home, and we care for our guests like extended family. Since 2005, we have enjoyed meeting interesting guests from all over the world. We are happy to share our knowledge of the local area with you, as well as learn about your background and exchange ideas. Your children are very welcome to play with our children, too!

The house has a large garden on several sides with various corners for sitting and reading, watching the sunset, and easy access for taking walks in the vineyards.

Upon your arrival, we will welcome you with a bottle of our wine made from our own vineyards as well as our own olive oil. We will also furnish the kitchen with some basic things for breakfast.

During your stay you are welcome to visit our new wine facility, 3 miles form our property, where you can have a wine tasting upon request.

If you like our wine, you are certainly welcome to take some home with you. We can arrange for packing and shipping.

For stays longer than a week, a weekly cleaning with change of linens and towels is included in the price.

A laundry room is accessible from the external part of the villa.

Extra maid service or babysitting can be provided upon request.

Best Holidays Ever :)

We spent 10 days with the whole family in Raffaele and Ilaria's wonderful house. We had a great stay. We would recommend this house at any time and would love to spend a holiday here again one day. The location of the house is wonderfully quiet and idyllic with the perfect view over the hills of Tuscany. Yet only a few minutes by car from the supermarket, the beautiful town of San Casiciano or the city of Florence. The house was very nice, clean, tidy and well maintained. The welcome from Ilaria was wonderful and no question was left unanswered. The highlight was of course the pool, which was also very well maintained and cleaned daily. We had the perfect holiday here. We would particularly like to highlight the hospitality of Ilaria and Rafaele. They were always available to answer any questions we had and regularly asked if we needed anything else. We had problems leaving due to a car breakdown and here too the two of them supported us wonderfully and warmly and did not let us down - we are very, very, very grateful for that. There is nothing we can complain about and we would recommend a trip to this great place at any time.

Wonderful stay in a beautiful villa/ vineyard

The former home of an Italian wine legend. Lella was a wonderful host, the property and surrounding vineyard are beautiful. The property was a 20 minute (~9 mile) ride to Florence which allowed for easy parking. We rented a car and were able to visit several local cities (Pisa, Siena close by). The pool and facilities of the villa were wonderful. Highly reccomend!!

Beautiful Tuscany Villa and Location

What a wonderful vacation at a beautiful Villa. Great location to travel to many places. We visited Pisa, Florence, Siena, San Gimignano and many others. Ilaria and Raphael were wonderful hosts. They have 2 teenage boys that we very much enjoyed talking to and getting to know. The last night we were there they prepared a delicious dinner for us and their wines are amazing. The views of the vineyards around the villa are breathtaking. My husband Joe wants to go back next year and help Raphael and Ilaria harvest grapes. Uh, we’ll have to see about that??? He said they don’t even have to pay him. Lol. Again, they were wonderful. We all feel we’ve made some new friends. Lori Castagno

Beautiful location for a relaxing holiday

The property is perfectly located overlooking the vineyards on the Tuscan hills. It is quiet and secluded, with all the facilities you need in a home from home. The pool is an added bonus and very well maintained. Ilaria and Raphael are great hosts, providing all the essentials and willingly providing recommendations for visiting the area. Nothing is too much trouble, from replacing a lightbulb to fixing the sunshade by the pool. Our family had a very relaxing stay and it was a pleasure to meet the hosts and their family. We especially enjoyed our wine tasting tour, learning about story of their wine production. We would thoroughly recommend their wine 😊

Relaxing days with family and friends

wir haben das Haus für eine Woche mit zwei Ehepaaren gemietet und waren sehr happy, Ilaria und ihre Familie als Gastgeber zu haben. Da die Familie im direkt angrenzenden Haus wohnt, war jederzeit ein Ansprechpartner für die kleinen zu klärenden Dinge da.Das Haus ist reichlich ausgestattet mit allem, was man für einen angenehmen Aufenthalt braucht, in der Küche findet man mehr als genug Utensilien. Die Bäder sind eher klein, aber gemütlich. Der wunderschöne Gartenbereich des Hauses und der herrliche Pool werden sehr regelmäßig gepflegt. Der Pool liegt ein paar Schritte und Treppen vom Haus entfernt.Da das Anwesen zu einem bewirtschaftetem Weingut gehört, herrscht unter der Woche auch mal geschäftiges Treiben, am Wochenende ist es wunderbar ruhig. Ilaria hat für uns mit viel Herz eine unvergessliche Geburtstagsfeier arrangiert, das haben wir genossen. Obwohl das Anwesen außerhalb des nächsten Ortes liegt, sind Supermärkte, Restaurants und Geschäfte schnell und einfach mit dem Auto zu ereichen. Wir haben von hier aus Ausflüge nach Vinci und San Gimignano sowie mit dem Bus nach Florenz gemacht, was sehr gut geklappt hat. Danke an Ilaria und ihre Familie für die tolle Gastfreundschaft!

Beautiful Get Away

Our group had a wonderful stay at the Villa. The house and surrounding areas are as beautiful as they seem in the pictures. We had a wonderful time using the pool and outdoor grill for meals. The beds and bathrooms were all clean and comfortable. Its also perfectly centrally located to many different cities in Tuscany. Wonderful stay!

Tuscany holiday with children

We had the most incredible time at Ilaria and her family’s stunning villa. Ilaria went out of her way to make our stay enjoyable - she organised chefs’s for a BBQ meal and set up a beautiful table in the garden. Ilaria’s son every played a piano recital! I would really recommend a wine tasting as their wine is incredible. We really enjoyed our time at this villa and made lasting memories here. Playing in the pool with our toddler and sitting under the pergola watching the sunset are a few favourites. We will never forget the view over the vineyard. Raf was great too and my toddler loves watching the tractors on the vineyard. The local town was lovely and only a short drive. The restaurants were fabulous and there is a little play park which was great for our toddler. We really hope we will return to this villa one day - it is genuinely a special place. Perfect setting for our Tuscan holiday

I can’t say enough wonderful things about our stay here. Ilaria was an amazing host. The property was stunning!!! Watching a sunset with a glass of wine in hand was exactly what we hoped our stay would be!! Touring the wine region was exactly what we were looking for. The home is beautiful!!! Just one word of caution…if you are tall some of the door frames may be a challenge!! We would stay at this property again in a heartbeat!!

We are so grateful to Ilaria and Rafael for their hospitality. The house is beautiful and very comfortable, with many outdoor spaces to sit and soak up the views. Lovely Villa in a Lovely Setting

Podere La Villa is a lovely house set in a vineyard, with spectacular views. The area is very quiet area and the town of San Casciano has a great supermarket and several really good restaurants. It's a short drive to Florence and other areas of Chianti. The rooms are all comfortable and Ilaria made sure the kitchen was well stocked - she even surprised us with some fresh eggs! As described the house is shared with the owner's family. We were aware of their comings and goings and they of ours. We also share their laundry machines. Wifi was spotty and unavailable in parts of the house. Ilaria tried very hard to correct it but it remained inconsistent. It made trying to make reservations, plan activities, etc. frustrating. Despite a few hiccups we had a lovely stay. Thanks Ilaria!

AMAZING STAY IN TUSCANY

I stayed with friends at Podere La Villa for 3 weeks in September and it was the most amazing VRBO stay I have ever enjoyed! The villa is located on a notable Chianti vineyard and the house itself is very large and in pristine condition. We were greeted by the owner, Ilaria, who toured us around the scenic property and pool area. The property includes a vineyard, olive groves, a fig orchard and a beautiful garden. She had even prepared an amazing Italian charcuterie board for us to enjoy upon arrival! Ilaria and her family are truly endearing and took excellent care of us the entire time we stayed in Tuscany. Notable at Podere La Villa were the beautiful Tuscan vistas, the outdoor eating areas, the rose bushes, herb shrubs and lemon trees, the incredible sunsets and the friendly farm cats. San Casciano is a lovely town located 5 minutes away by car where you will find every possible amenity. Florence is approximately 25 minutes away by car. You will need a vehicle for transportation at this location, walking or taking a bus is not really feasible. Thank you for the incredible memories of Tuscany!

Eine traumhafte Zeit in den Hügeln der Toscana

Wir bogen von einer asphaltierten Strasse auf den Privatweg nach Podere la Villa ein. Nach ca. 2 - 3 Minuten Fahrzeit lag das toskanische Haus vor uns. Wir waren sprachlos, welch ein wunderschöner Anblick. Unsere Erwartungen wurden übertroffen und wir wurden sehr herzlich von Ilaria begrüßt. Es hat uns an nichts gefehlt. Die Ausstattung der Zimmer und Bäder, die Küche, die veschiedenen Sitzmöglichkeiten im Innen- und Aussenbereich waren nahezu perfekt. Podere la Villa ist ein sehr guter Ausgangspunkt für Tagesausflüge nach Florenz, San Gimignano usw.. Ein weiteres Highlight ist der Pool, umgeben von Zypressen, Weinbergen, Olivenhainen, und einem herrlichen Weitblick auf die toskanische Landschaft. Herzlichen Dank an Ilaria und ihre Familie. Val Di Pesa Villa

We absolutely loved our stay. Ilaria and her family were amazing hosts. The house was ready and breakfast foods and wine and milk, coffee and tea were already there for us. We wanted for nothing. The house was beautiful, comfortable, well equipped. The beds were very comfortable, bathrooms new and nicely done. The views were amazing, pool beautiful. We had a family cooked dinner and wine tasting which was beyond anything we could have hoped for. I’d love to go back soon! Thank you!

Exceeded expectations!

The photos don’t do it justice. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. It was conveniently located just a 20 minute drive from Florence. We had a hairy experience getting there on the first day with our car rental put Ilaria went out of her way to put us at ease and explained to us how to navigate our way around Tuscany and parking in Florence. With the 90-100 degree temps, the pool at night was an added bonus and such a wonderful spot to watch the sunset over Tuscany. We felt like we were in a movie. Ilaria also arranged a chef to come and cook a 4 course meal for us which was amazingly delicious! We would Highly recommend and cannot wait to go back! Traumhafte Villa mit Platz und Ruhe

Wir waren für 1 Woche zu Gast bei Ilaria und Ihrer Familie. Die Unterkunft hatte alles wie beschrieben, es hat an nichts gefehlt. Besonders gut hat uns die ruhige Lage und der herzliche Empfang gefallen. Die Lage der Villa ist perfekt, um die wichtigsten Highlights der Toskana in kurzer Zeit mit dem Auto anzufahren. Der Pool hat eine angenehme Größe und bietet einen herrlichen Blick über die Weinberge. Unsere Tochter hat das für abendliche Joggingrunden genutzt. Wir können die Unterkunft nur uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen.

The best place in Tuscany

We loved our stay at Ilaria’s villa in Chianti. Even better than advertised, it is very comfortable for a group, with all we needed to relax, cook, swim, and enjoy our vacation in Tuscany. The location is excellent for day trips to many places, but we really loved having the space to spread out and simply enjoy the views and the property - it is so beautifully landscaped and decorated.. Ilaria and her family are welcoming and very helpful - we highly recommend staying here! We will return in the future. (Other nice amenities - the pool is fantastic! Family’s wine and olive oil are delicious and available for purchase, Bigger grocery store as well as local butcher, store, restaurants are very close - Ilaria is happy to recommend)

WHY I LOVE THIS SPOT:
Podere La Villa is situated in a gorgeous Tuscan valley where the sometimes lush, sometimes rugged landscape alternately recalls renaissance paintings by masters such as Leonardo da Vinci or Benozzo Gozzoli. Despite the quiet, rural feel, we are very strategically located, just 15 km from Florence.
The estate has a total of 10 hectares (25 acres), which include vineyards, olive groves, woods and a small lake. The 7 hectares (17 acres) of vineyards are in the Chianti Classico wine region and comprise Sangiovese grapes (80%) and Merlot grapes (20%). We have adopted sustainable farming techniques, although we are not yet certified as organic farmers. Our goal is to respect and preserve the surrounding environment as much as possible. All our grapes are hand-picked and produced in limited quantities to obtain the best quality.
We make our own wine from the 7 hectares (5 acres) of vineyards alongside the Villa. We own a recently renovated wine facility at 3 km sitance from the property.
We love this land, our roots are very deep here. We like to share all this with our guests and friends.

Podere la Villa is located near Florence and Siena and close to the numerous and fascinating Tuscan towns such as San Gimignano, Volterra and all the little villages of the Chianti Classico area.
Interesting and facinating walks all around the property are possible all year through, especially recommended during the harvest time – September and October, and in the Spring time.
