We at Les Chouettes follow local regulations for our cleaning and sterilising of our cottage and barn to ensure your safety during this stressful period.

The cottage is a great getaway for couples or small families as it offers everything you need to a fabulous holiday away from it all.

The French Country Cottage - Les Chouettes is a typical Périgordian Cottage. It is a restored farmhouse. It offers a tranquil environment, charming French decor, a great private pool for those warm sunny days which overlooks a walnut orchard.This converted farmhouse has 4 nice size bedrooms and is able to comfortably accommodate up to 8 people'. The main bedroom is beautifully decorated in typical french style and very spacious.
The kitchen is well-equipped for you to try your hand at any new recipes with the ingredients from any of the nearby markets. There is a good size stove and oven, fridge/freezer, and microwave. The dishwasher will take care of any dirty dishes.
Les Chouettes within easy driving distance from Bordeaux, Sarlat-la-Caneda, Bergerac, Lalinde, Le Bugue and Perigueux, only1 km from Tremolat village in the Dordogne valley of Aquitaine.

The village of Tremolat is only a 20 minute walk has its own Boulangerie, a Pizzeria, a Michelin star Bistro, a Wine Bar and a fabulous Michelin Star restaurant.
Leaving Tremolat village (on the other side) a mere 4 km is a typical Perigordian Auberge called Les Truffiers. Here you will be welcomed by Yannick. You will enjoy the most incredible meal (try to go with an empty stomach) He really provides the most wonderful gastronomic experience.. The restaurant is quirky and fabulous.
This is a wonderful, charming and very special property, full of character, and beautifully furnished.

So whether you are celebrating a special occasion with your loved one or planning a holiday with your friends and/or family needing some quality time together, there is something for everyone to enjoy at Les Chouettes and our beautiful valley of the Dordogne, which is rich in history and offers so much for one to do.

Good sized property with lovely pool area

We stayed in the cottage which has 4 bedrooms- 2 upstairs and 2 down stairs and a bathroom on each level. The 2 bedrooms downstairs are big enough to have the double beds in but not much more room than that. One of the bedrooms upstairs is a lovely huge room with beams and air conditioning. The other is quite small with a smaller than double bed in. The stairs to get up there are very steep and would not be safe for young children without very close supervision or anyone who is a little unsteady. The weather was very hot while we were there and although there were plenty of fans available, only one or two worked so the rooms without aircon got very hot, especially the ones downstairs where we were unable to open the windows due to no instect screens. We had requested a cot to be there for our 2 year old and it wasn't set up so had to request the bedding again for this when we arrived. The wifi password hadn't been updated in the app or in the info in the cottage so was a lot of messing around when we arrived to figure it out from the packaging we found and needed it to use our phone as we travelled from Australia. The pool area was fantastic and big enough for the whole family to play and relax at the side, it is fenced off too so great for younger kids. One of the loungers was broken so unable to use. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you would need but had minimal storage for food. The table was a good focal point but we found one of the antique chairs were broken and a little dangerous. The location of the property is further than we expected from Tremolat- It is around 25-30 minutes walk, as opposed to 15! So not as easy to pop into the village as we expected. The computer games that were available mainly consisted of games which required a microphone and there wasn't one available. The other games were unsuitable for my 9 year old nephew as they were rated age 12+. Our daughter was sick and needed to go to hospital while we were there and Karen was great in helping me and arranged for Simons step son to come with us to translate! Thank you!! Karen was quick to respond to any issues we had. Overall a lovely property but needs a few things updating. It would be helpful if the photos of the cottage and the barn would be seperate on the listing so it is very clear which photos belong to which property. The barn is recently renovated so much nicer.

We had a wonderful time enjoying the beautiful house and patios, the pool, the bikes the tabletennis and the stunning surroundings. Very helpful host.

Magnifiques gites

Les 2 gîtes de Karen sont très confortable et spacieux. Ils sont très bien équipés. La piscine est grande. Il y a un terrain de volley des vélos à disposition ainsi qu'une table de ping-pong. Karen est aux petits soins pour ses hôtes. De plus les gîtes sont dans un hameau très calme de Trémolat. Nous avons passé un excellent séjour.

Lovely stay

We had a lovely time in Trémolat. A beautiful setting with lots to do. The house was perfect for x2 families of 4. We'll equipped kitchen with many basics such as herbs provided. Lots of helpful info on markets available in a helpful book. Would happily stay again.

The owners are Alan and Karen Carter, we are South African,. We have travelled and lived in America and the UK and included all the things we like to have when we are away from home. We discovered the Dordogne in 2008 when we visited a friend who owns a property outside Tremolat. We both have fallen in love with the area. Alan and I would like to share our beautiful farmhouse and now recently our newly RENOVATED barn with anyone who loves fabulous food, unbelievable scenery, amazing history, and peace. The peace you too discover.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with Tremolat and the beautiful Dordogne region when we visited in 2008 We have returned every year since that trip and we now have our beautiful cottage. Tremolat itself offers 4 superb restaurants and 1 wine bar and is within easy reach of wine regions such as Bordeaux, Bergerac, Pecharment, and the lovely smooth wines of Monbazillac ( gorgeous with fois gras), It is also within easy driving distance of wonderful historical sites such as Beynac and Castlenaud Castles, 1 hour from the paleolithic sites such as Les Eysiers. We are in easy access (only 35 km from Bergerac Airport, Bordeaux Airport is a 2 hour drive from the house)
